7/08/2023 Gotta go back up to 5 here. Service was fantastic. Granted I came in before they got crowded. And I got the big ribeye steak, salad and baked potato. And it was wonderful. I had to sit there and just enjoy the aroma of the steak before I could dig in! See pics. David, waited on me personally. And that sure helped! EXCELLENT MEAL!

7/05/2023 update: Been eating here most of the week. Still Estill's best choice, unless Lester's is open. Has seemed plenty clean this week. Improved service. David is still the manager here. The hamburger is also pretty good here. Language barrier can effect your experience, if you do not speak a little Spanish .. but they try hard.. .

6/23/2022 BIRTHDAY, update... much improved this evening. Bugs eliminated. Really clean. Got what I wanted. Good, pleasant service. Good food. Quick! Back up to 4 stars. By myself. Wish the family had had this experience. New pics.....

6/17/22 update... Oh well, fire's out.... I brought my family to this place I had enjoyed so much. I had bragged about it. They were traveling with me today. Even though the sign says "seat yourself," we were rushed to a table in a corner. I expressed disappointment. To which, I was told "This is it." We are cleaning the other side. This is where you have to sit. Too bad. So sad. I asked for David the manager. "He is not here. No consolation. No conciliation. No concern. .. Not happy with having to sit in the corner for such an expensive lunch. Rating down from 5 to 3. Between the flies and the gnats, they are lucky it is a 3... In Estill, there aren't a lot of food choices. I have always liked this little place (4 star like), but recently they have jumped to a 5 star recommendation. Sometimes a change of ownership and management is a good thing and sometimes not. In this situation, it certainly is a good thing.. My friend Cecil and I came here Saturday night. I saw on someone's plate the biggest steak, I have seen served East of Texas. I've been on a diet but I hadn't eaten. So I guess I overdo it but it would really work it. And pointed to it and told my server whatever he had I wanted one of those. Come to find out the server was actually the owner. No exaggeration that steak was at least 24 oz. I had to insist that Cecil helped me with it. For $20, they had to go in the hole. And it was terrific. Serviceand food tonight is again fantastic. Just to make sure, I asked David Was he the owner & of course he was. His pride and courtesy made it obvious. Not only would I say to come here if you happen to be passing through Estill. But if you're nearby it'll be Worth a few miles to come out of your way. They serve a buffet at lunch. That is Just terrific. They earned this positive review. I am a local that orders at least once per week. I order the same dish each time. At least twice, the order is incorrect. “Hi can I have a shrimp and beef taco salad?” What is so hard about this order. After the first consecutive error, the defensive owner and waitress were very rude about their place in the matter. I was asked not to come back because I expressed my concern about the constant error. I guess I should have been supportive of my own in town, at least they would have been able to be consistent in getting my order correct and acknowledged the error. I don’t like to even think to only support my own race, but customer service has the hierarchy in my eyes. Our town needs more variety so we won’t have to deal with rude business owners. I’m infrequently in the Estill area however I was working out there today and was craving something for lunch. I was nervous at first ordering from an unknown restaurant in such a small town. Let me tell you though, for $7, I ordered 2 chicken enchiladas with beans and rice. These enchiladas had a good amount of moist chicken topped with melted cheese and a delicious Mexican red sauce. The rice tasted fluffy and fresh and the typical refrigerator beans were just as lovely, even more delicious when mixed with the rice. I tried to find every reason to rate this experience a 4/5 but the service was quick, food was fresh and tasty, and price point was good. Keep up the good work, I’ll see you again!
