I was hospitalized at the Euclid Hospital with a gallstones attack. It felt like chest pain so I called 911 and was brought to the ER. Once there, I was transported to a room and pretty much left alone. Hooked to all kinds of tubes with both side rails up, I could barely do anything but wait. What more, a call light was hanging up on one of the side rails backwards, but no one explained to me what it was for; luckily I happened to know, much good it did anyway. A while later I am screaming in pain and pushing the call light button, to no avail. Then an EKG tech walks in and rather nonchalantly says, "Your call light is on", and then he proceeds turning it off. I tried to explain that I turned it on for a reason - falls on deaf ears. Then he finally is done and leaves; here I am all alone without any food or drink offered. Can't even go to the bathroom with all the tubes & the side rails up, and my calls for help are ignored. This seemed to take forever. Finally all the tests are said & done, my diagnosis is explained, and I am wheeled all the way up to the 9th floor. Once in my assigned room, I am being told to wait good a few hours for my medications. Being assertive helps, and I get my meds much sooner. This whole ordeal turned out due to the ER working understaffed - can you believe it? The floor works short-staffed just as well. I was kept overnight and was grateful to finally be able to go home. Had my gallbladder removed about a month later, Dr Slawinski did a terrific job on that one, hope to never land in this hospital again. I don't recommend staying in this hospital; if you can help it, try going elsewhere. (couldn't use paragraphs on this site, try all I might, so did the...
Read moreSummary: Police will threaten you to leave and make you drive home intoxicated even if you tell them you are not safe to drive.
The other day I was there and had been given a heavy dose of medication. This included narcotics and barbiturates. I had also been prescribed something that I couldn't take so I informed the nurse this. She didn't want to listen to me so I asked for a patient advocate. She also didn't want to listen to me so she brought a doctor in to yell at me. I was forced out of there but as I said I was on heavy meds and disoriented so I wasn't very stable on my feet. I had stopped to get my balance only to be threatened by police to leave. They said I was trespassing. I informed them I did not feel safe to drive, because I didn't. One of the officers said he didn't care and he'd drag me out of there kicking and screaming if he had to. I got out my phone to start recording this because I didn't think that was an appropriate response to what I had said. Which I had said calmly, keep in mind I was very "out of it" due to the med combination I was on. The second officer there warned the first officer who had just threatened me that I was now recording so he changed his answer to sound less violent. I repeated again, calmly, that I did not feel safe to drive. They kept on harassing me telling me I had to leave because I was "trespassing" and discharged. Eventually I became agitated because, I wasn't in my right mind, and started to yell at them as they forced me out of there but I could hardly walk and had to stop at least once to get my balance the whole time the police are harassing me to leave. In the end I was forced to leave, by car, not in any condition to drive because of these two officers and the doctors apparently not giving a crap that the medication combination they had given me was dangerous to drive under. How is this legal? Why is this legal? This hospital is a lawsuit...
Read moreScheduled for blood work at Euclid hospital. There is no way to figure out where to go! According to staff "signs are clear, and it's clear in MyChart".. basically I'm an inept client who did not read or see! MyChart says go to "draw station".. that's great if you can figure out where the doll station actually is!; the phone number listed in the appointment detail offers a recording with several options.. none which leads to a person who can provide directions to a "draw station". Again, being an inept client who doesn't read more ... On another screen somewhere in my chart there's a phone number that says if you need to speak to a human being called this number. Unfortunately I never located this number but found the location after the 3rd building I went to. "All you had to do was read the signs or ask an employee" yet again I'm an idiot all I had to do was ask for a ride... FROM WHO? I JUST SWITCHED FROM UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL CLEVELAND CLINIC.. DEFINITELY RETHINKING THAT SITUATION THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THAT I'VE HAD DIFFICULTY FINDING LOCATION AND FELT VERY DISRESPECTED WHEN ASKING FOR HELP. I will say my medical stay downtown from my heart attack and at Hillcrest for a stroke I was treated with nothing but respect and dignity I find that not to be the case with the...
