If you're planning on having your child's birthday party here, 1. Don't book it on a Saturday (if you do, be prepared to be rushed through every activity.) 2. Be prepared to have anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour of your allotted time cut off.
I booked my daughter's birthday party there for a Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. I bought the classic package and added two activities. We arrived a few minutes before 10:30 a.m. and we were escorted to our party room by our "party planner/organizer." The party planner girl briefly went over our "revised itinerary" in which we had little to no say in. She quickly rattled off the pricing for everything and the order of events. She took our pizza and drink orders and informed us that laser tag was first on the docket and would begin at 11:15 a.m. and that she would come get us when it was time. So, then all 15-20 of the party guests had to sit in the assigned party room and stare at the walls until 11:20 a.m., wondering "where is that party planner lady?" I decided to go to the guy at the laser tag counter and asked "hey so, we're scheduled to play laser tag at 11:15 a.m., and our party girl was supposed to come get us." He replied "oh well if y'all are ready, y'all can go ahead and come play." What?! Ok whatever let's just roll with it. So we went and played laser tag for 15 minutes and then ate some pizza (which was slightly burned on the edges.) It was now going on 12:30 p.m., 2 hours we had been there so far and only a laser tag and ate pizza.
The kids of the party wanted to play arcade games but the party planning girl told us that we had to play mini golf next. I then just asked her straight up out of frustration and everyone feeling restless and rushed, "The kids want to play games, is there anyway we can just go ahead and get the game cards and let some of us play in the arcade and some of us play mini golf?" The girl seemed somewhat perturbed to go and retrieve the game cards for us but she did. We had to speed through 14 holes of indoor mini golf due to being rushed because of several groups of several people and our allowed time was running out fast. The kids rushed and burned through the $15 game cards that were included in the party package (the balance ran out super quick because most of the games in there take anywhere from 4 to 10 credits.) Within proceeded to go back up to the party room to eat cake. 5 minutes into enjoying some sweet birthday cake, the party planner girl came into the room and informed us that "okay so there's another party that has this room booked so you'll have to leave in 5 minutes." Wait what? We hadn't been able to really actually enjoy anything because we were rushed through everything and the entire experience was quite frankly less than satisfactory to say the least.
I understand completely that places like Walther's are super busy on Saturdays, have several birthday parties to accommodate and want to make as much of a profit as they possibly can. With that being said, in my opinion I believe that Walther's Golf and Fun should figure out ways to provide a fun-filled, stress-free and special experience for their loyal paying customers. Either don't book so many parties on the same days close to the same times and/or build on to their facility. I don't know, something needs to change because me personally, I was not pleased and disappointed with the experience and I will not book another birthday party there ever again, unless it's a 100% private and...
Read moreThis is a message regarding getting playing lessons with Bob Walther. If you live in the tri state area and play golf , are new to golf or play all the time you need to be getting lessons from Bob. He has been taught ,observed and played with some of the games greatest PGA players of all time.
His knowledge and instruction is just incredible. If he was teaching in Orlando or Miami he could ask for 250 an hour and have people lined up out the door to see him. 50 dollars an hour for a lesson , from a guy who has played with Bob Hamilton, Byron Nelson , Tom Watson and Sam Snead ! That's insane !
I've lived in Orlando and Miami and taken many lessons in Florida from so called "top instructors." Bob puts them to shame. It's not even close. There is so much bad instruction today in golf it's ruining and stunting the growth of the game. Trust me - I know winners and I know great teachers. Go see Bob and get a pack of lessons and I promise you , you will enjoy the great game of golf...
Read moreI've been going to Bob Walther's since I was a kid, and we've been taking our kids for years. The recent renovation is very nice, and we really like the bowling. However, I am dismayed by the high number of claw games. As we all know, claw games lure kids in but rarely result in anything but disappointment. We took my son and a friend there for his 6th birthday today, and they kept trying claw games. Most of the time, the claw would actually grab an item and lift it up, but then while moving to the drop shaft, the claw would visibly open up just enough to let the item fall. I'm surprised that Bob Walther's would select these horrible games for kids to play. There are even a group of claw games that are extra short so that small children can see them. My daughter tried the LOL one...and of course, the claw dropped the doll before it made it to the shaft. I really have always loved Bob Walther's but these claw games are just a huge...
