This old city park has everything. A beautiful lake with a fountain in the middle is at it's center with a sidewalk/trail and road that circles it. There is all sorts of wildlife here, including various species of fish in the lake. To the northwest end of the park you will find access to the Pigeon Creek and the accompanying Greenway Passage. It runs from the southwest side of the park along its edges to the northwest side. There are basketball courts and Little League baseball fields on the south-southwest end of the park and on the southeast end is the famed Bosse Field, one of the first baseball stadiums built in the entire country. Bosse Field is home to the Frontier League's Evansville Otters. Garvin Park has a few shelter houses available and last but not least, a city swimming pool found on the south end of the park. During the wintertime Don Mattingly Way, which is the the road that goes through the park, is set up with many different festival lights to celebrate the Christmas season, called Ritzy's Fantasy of Lights. So in conclusion, if you want to have some quality outdoor time with your family and/or friends, this park should be more than adequate. Take a visit...

It''s a nice quite area where kids can play in the grass or walk on a winding sidewalk in the park,. They can fish or feed the fish and birds and enjoy watching the wonders of nature and make peace with the world . The squirrels are gathering food and nuts they find in the park. The ducks swim and walk around fluttering their wings. There are others who enjoy the tranquility of a very nice, clean and beautiful park. Familes enjoying a picnic, fishing, swimming, and exploring everything it has to offer. A police car drives through to check that all is well and peaceful. It is a beautiful place and a wonderful part of nature for all to enjoy. Thank you for a beautiful, clean peaceful place for people of all ages to enjoy and relax, and for our policemen who drive thru at any time to check to see if all is well. Everyone who is there does a beautiful job taking care of a wonderful...

Beautiful! I visited from out of town and was impressed by how large this park was and how conveniently located it was to other businesses. I am confident I didn't get to experience every inch of this park. However, from what I did see, there is plenty to do!

There is a great amount of greenspace for your friends and family gathering needs! And with that being said, parking did not appear to be an issue. There seemed to be several trail and path options to explore! I valued being close to the beautiful aquatic center and having access to all of the fun events taking place at the park.

The day I came was full of family, friends, and laughter. The events and thrill of experiencing the local events and Aquatic center just topped it off! I hope your experience is...

I came here for the Fantasy of Lights and took a carriage ride, and it was BREATHTAKING. You can drive through as well, which is better if you prefer to stay warm and are okay with missing the added experience of taking a carriage. However, I highly recommend taking the carriage, the drivers are very friendly and the experience alone is well worth the cost. Also, the horses are amazing. If you are a local this is a staple for the holidays, just be sure to bundle up and bring a few blankets. Even if you are from out of town I recommend paying this a visit, you won’t regret it!

Nice concrete path curving around the lake. Able to get right up to the water with the low banks and grassy edges. The goose gangs are quite large each and by group. Watching where you step can sometimes be challenging with all the droppings. That's the worst thing about the park, but what are you gonna do right. Side note: the geese are not aggressive. I could walk right by a couple gangs of geese that were hanging out by the picnic tables smoking cigarettes and carving their names in the table. They just watched us walk by. So that's always a plus.

The pond has been rather cleaned and is a harmonious niche for geese and ducks. The grounds are a great co-habitat for people loving geese, adorable ducks, and lively squirrels. The lush is numerous and the buildings are sound. The place has great security and well founded meetings are held here periodically. Practically the heart of Evansville, Garvin Park is definitely worth a visit in practically any section. Evansville Businesses Lovingly Decorate Christmas Season
