I live in Conifer and I used to take my skis in for tuning at Colorado Ski & Golf, but I got tired of the constant up-selling (either on service or trying to get me to buy new equipment) so, after reading the great reviews on Boone, I decided to give a local shop a chance at winning my business. I took a pair of skis here for tuning on two separate occasions and I won't be going back.
I took my wife's skis there the first time I visited Boone and they tried to up-sell me on the tune, indicating the skis needed a stone grind even thought the bases were smooth. I told them to just do a basic sharpen and wax, which they did.
The second time, I brought my skis in for a tune and it was such a disappointment, I stopped going there. The employee looked at my skis (which are old and outdated, but work just fine) when I told him I wanted a basic tune and said "How about you just buy some new skis? I have some sales you're gonna be interested in." When I told him they worked fine for me, he tried to up-sell me on the tune just like with my wife's skis! Needless to say... I declined and just told him to complete the service I requested.
I'm thinking maybe the employees get a commission to promote sales and/or up-sell you on services. But, even if they don't, it certainly rubbed me the wrong way so I started taking my equipment elsewhere for service and, I am very happy to report, I no longer deal with these sales pitches. They did a decent job on the tunes and they're prices are only slightly higher than their competitors, but I won't be going back because I don't appreciate shops that insinuate my equipment is junk in a sad attempt to make a sale.
By the way... I have been an avid skier for over 35 years and I usually wax and sharpen my own skis, so I feel like I know what I'm talking about in this area (and I certainly know when my bases need a stone grind). I appreciate and welcome some advice on equipment when I ask for it, but it really bothers me when it's being jammed...
Read moreMy husband and I bought our first set of skis from Boone Mountain Sports 3 years ago. It was a really great experience as beginner skiers who wanted gear we could advance in. I have weird feet and the crew spent several sessions with me and getting my boot fitting dialed in. As an anxious newbie to ski gear, that was incredibly encouraging.
More recently, I rented some tele gear from another shop and was really struggling with the bindings. I anticipated a long drive in terrible weather to get the problem solved by the place I rented from decided but to try Boone since it is local to us and we had a great experience in the past.
Logan spent 1.5+ hours with me in the shop helping get the bindings working for me, while also juggling probably 3 other families who needed his attention at the same time. He was friendly and attentive, gave each patron the individualized help that anyone deserves, and was patient with me despite my frustration. I was able to leave the shop feeling confident. Just can't say how much I appreciated that these guys saved me a long/hairy drive, spent so much time with me, and got me the outcome I needed... when it wasn't even their gear.
This place is the best. Can't...

There is a difference between Boone and other ski/sport shops--they go beyond just stocking all the usual stuff and are willing to delve into the minutia of material selection fastener types, and all the things that the other shops ignore...but can make a huge impact.
The friendly vibe (compliments of the Boone family, Mary, Andrew, Abby, Larissa, and more) is authentic and their knowledge and expertise simply can't be matched--anywhere. It's always been that way... but several weeks back...Logan took it to a whole different level.
While trying on some boots I mentioned that I was fascinated by the BOA Alpine Boot fit system that a few manufacturers have incorporated into their boots for the 2023/24 season.
Logan excused himself and magically returned with a pair of Salomon S/Pro Supra's in my size!!! Mind you, I poked around a bit to find a pair prior to my visit...but they seemed unobtainable. Not if you shop at Boone Mountain Sports!
I'll post another review about the performance of the boots...But...kindly read my review about the Boone Boot fitting Service and my experience with "Andrew the Boot Swami"...it deserves its...
