When we first arrived around 2 pm after a hike nearby, we approached the bar, and no one said anything or acknowledged we were there initially. Then to break the ice, we kindly pointed out that the signs outside said they didn't open until 3 and were pleased to find out that they were already open. This was defensively met with the information that those signs were likely old.. Sure, but that was the point then as we tried to place our order, the bartender w didn't seem to be paying attention and gave me a flight with beer names that didn't match what I had ordered, though thankfully the beers were okay and they matched what they advertised so I could figure it out.. We ordered Colorado Dips which can best be described as edible. The beef and 'caramelized' onions were cold, the bun, was a bun, the horseradish was undetectable, and the au jus was brown juice that was thankfully hot. Combined with a generous amount of mustard and hot sauce, we ate, with self-serve room temperature water to wash it down. The bartender continued to be rude to us, and many, though to be fair not all, of the other customers. Brewpubs are my go to option when out and this is one that I would love to give another shot given the other reviews, but not at all what...
Read moreHeading south/east on 74 (Evergreen Parkway) this place can be hard to miss as it's right off the highway on your left (keep that GPS on!). Evergreen is inside a tiny shopping center on the upper floor, with a small deck that leaves a pretty decent view of the mountains across the highway.
The beers that they brew were ok, we had the hefeweizen, the IPA, and their CBD beer which was the most interesting. The hef and IPA were fine, hef had good flavor, the IPA was just kind of hazy hop water. The CBD beer was interesting and kind of tasted like a Blue Moon. They do have other breweries beers on tap, and the ones on their current list were good choices (an Odd 13 sour, Upslope brown, Funkwerks sour, etc).
The food was surprisingly wonderful. We were looking for a good snack and ordered their meat and cheese plate, which took a little time coming out but when it did was highly approved by all. Some nice prosciutto, salami, real pepperoni, goat cheese, white cheddar, brie, with a nicely spiced rasberry (jalapeno?) compote, and a apricot compote. Toasted bread and crackers were also included. It was a good size...
Read moreI'd give .1 star if it was an option. Sign says sit anywhere but bar service only. We sat at the bar. Bartender didn't acknowledge us or say anything for over 15 minutes while he waited on others. I finally got his attention & asked if I could order or if I needed to stand in line (even though I was sitting within 3 feet of where he was standing/serving - at the bar, not a table). He said as long as there was ANYONE in line they came first. To me bar service has always meant EITHER 1) seated at the bar or 2) walk up/line at the bar. Not here apparently. If your policy is only to serve from the queue it should say ONLY SERVING FROM THE QUEUE in my opinion and if that's your policy & someone comes in & sits down, say something about getting in line to order - there is no way we were not seen, just not acknowledged. For the record there were several staff members there as well so it's not like it was a one-person show... I am a local & I used to go here frequently. Good luck to the owners but I suggest a little coaching of the staff &/or some...
