They shut our gas off as soon as we got back from a Christmas trip because we missed the payment by a couple of weeks while we were stuck around the country trying to fly home after all the cancelled flights. We paid it immediately after receiving the shut off notice and 24 hours after that had to call to get someone out to turn it on. They blamed us for not calling them after we paid it. The best part is they told us they couldn't have anyone out until the evening because that's when they service our area. But they shut it off the MORNING prior. To be clear, they can't turn our gas back on until they evening of the second day BUT they can have a technician shut off the gas the very morning they drop off the notice. These people were terribly rude and and could care less that it was near freezing...

For many weeks we had a nuisance amount of standing water in the street in front of our house. Rain or shine there was always water in the street. Monday morning I finally called to report this 'non-emergency' situation. Within two hours someone arrived and confirmed an underground leak a few houses down! By the very next day, the leak was located and repaired by a crew with a large backhoe, and the dig site put back in order! One call, three crews, and 24 hours later ... problem solved! Amazing!! Thank you Fairhope Public Works for such...
Read moreBeware!! Fairhope cannot provide enough water - daily capacity is often at 90 to 100%. There are severe water restrictions every summer. The infrastructure has not kept up with the growth. The last water tower was built in 2004, with no current plans for the next one. They provide water for neighborhoods outside city limits as well.
