It was my first time there. I've seen their advertisements lately on my feed and decided to try it out on my day off.
I was looking for cactus. I didn't see any so I walked around just to get an idea of what you offered. I was a bit underwhelmed but I always find a reason to come back. The fruits and vegetables looked fresh so decided on that. Then went to the deli. That's always a good reason. They had stew, and I love stew. I tried that and the Mac and cheese. Grabbed a soda I had not seen around in a while. I like glass bottled drinks. I looked through the meats again and saw a few good choices I'd come back for.
When I got to the register, there was one person ahead. The cashier was very pleasant towards them. So that would have rounded out the experience, if not great, at least pleasant.) When it was my turn, her smile immediately turned to a scowel. She didn't even want to touch my food. She did everything but throw it out the door and tell me to leave. Her attitude and glares just made me want to leave as quickly as possible. I got that scowl and side ways glares. She didn't even hand me the bags. Sort of tossed them on the end for me to grab. No courtesy. I tried to be friendly when she was scanning and she said nothing. Just dangling my food into the bag. I said thank you and nothing. She just went to the next person and smiled, was friendly and I just got out of there.
I thought maybe because it was a "white people place." No, the customers were mostly, but an array. I didn't know the cashier. Elderly thin woman.
It's not enough for me to come back for stew. I wanted to be able to complain about it. I sat in my car thinking about my experience and eating my stew. It was tasty. So I just chalked it up to a nasty old woman who has some problem but doesn't make me want to come back. It wasn't a good experience because she rounded it out with her bad attitude. Unbelievable. She didn't even want to touch my food.
The only difference between me and the other customers, was my...
Read moreWell well.where to start. Okay the beginning. I used to buy plants here and wondered what the building beside it was going to be. So I asked someone whom I thought might have a clue. Farmers market. Say what? Soon as we were in the area and saw a bunch of cars out front it was without question time to take a peek. Kid in a candy store might come to mind with my primary reaction. . . Oh wow they got. . Oh no, is that. . .? Yup sure is. I really was spending so much time looking that it was impossible to shop. That had to wait until future visits. That brings us up to speed on our first four or five visits. Now let's talk about some of my purchases. How about some kippered elk jerky? Oh it was good but out of my range for an every day snack. I have a pop tarts budget for snacks. So that one pack of jerky means three weeks of no pop tarts. Worth it? Of course it has to be or wouldn't bother telling you about a worthless life decision. They also have some of that old fashioned stick candy. Good flavors but really wanted to see root beer. Got muscadine cider here too. Love it since being introduced to it while discovering downtown Fayetteville. Not easy to find and here is my fourth place where it seems readily available. Mentioned trying the elk but intend to return for the bison. If that turns out to be yummy then it just looks that there will have to be a meeting with my financial advisors to discuss changes for accommodating a larger snack budget. I normally don't like these meetings because they always ask whose money am I trying to spend. For some strange reason they mimic my voice when asking. In closing, like this place. Will be going many more times. If Google ask me again will just tell you what new things I have discovered. Wait before leaving must tell you that they have a little delibin there. Cooked food. Go by and see what they have. Would have tried it by now but the out of the house food budget was destroyed with one night of immense generosity. Sorry, no details. Stay tuned...
Read more10/23 I went into Pate's to buy some groceries. We decided to get some hot food to go. We ordered and paid for both plates total 23.74. For some reason, they did not receive payment so they asked me to swipe again. Something told me to look at my bank app to see if money was taken out of my account, and it was. I showed the lady that money was taken out. She did not know what to do, so she called the manager Valerie. Valerie explained to me that my good wasn't paid for, but my app showed something different. I was not going to pay twice for an order I already paid for. Valerie was not understanding or accommodating. I also called my bank and spoke directly with customer service and they told her money was taken out of my account from their establishment, but Valerie was not trying to hear it. Needless to say, I was extremely upset and had every right to be because they stole my money and was NOT trying to come to a solution except for me to pay again. I will contact the owner Mike Pate end of the week because that is what I was told when he will be back from out of town. Ms Valerie needs to learn better customer service skills because there is no way a customer should leave an establishment unsatisfied and unhappy. Did I raise my voice, absolutely, after being told time and time again that I didn't pay when clearly I did. This was my second time shopping at Pate's, but my first time ordering a plate. I will not return based off of the customer service and them taking my money and basically calling me a liar. Valerie, should be...
