I think the vibe here is pretty tight and mellow. Nico is a pretty cool guy though his attempt to cloak himself always tripped me out indefinitely made me nervous. Although this shop, as a front, is a sanctuary that offers herbs, candles , herbs, and all the little things wiccans or voodoo worship would require. But what goes on behind the scenes is much more surreal and even bizarre. Nico is what in the "voodoo" world, considered a Palmero. These Palmero are not followers of Santeria, nor Hoodoo/Voodoo, or a form of Wicca. They laugh at the attempts and weakness of those. A Palmero is the title given to a Priest who has been taught and mastered the workings of a belief system called Palo Mayombe. These pratictioners of Palo are the real deal. They invite spirits (mainly malicious sorts) to join them in there worship and the Palo actually open and show there desire to be filled by these spirits. Ever notice all the CATHOLIC candles or statues or similarities to the Catholic religion? All of the candles have different "Saints" on them. When the Congo slaves were taken and brought initially to Cuba, they found an intolerance to there worship and dabbling with demons. So to blend in and even allow for further development, they began assigning their beloved spirits, demons, and entities (that they always have worshiped) and actually assigned each specific "god" or demon ro a particular Saint. While these Saints represent and actually encapsulate many of the "Kimpungulu" (lesser gods) the highest pantheon is occupied by "the supreme creator god" Nzambi. The rituals and magic used in Palo Mayombe is seriously fascinating, at first. You actually will experience and interact with all the Nfuri-Ntoto and Bakulu while seeing incredible things happen. Look up Palo Mayombe yourselves if interested. Well, while Nico claimes his "power" be of good and from the earth. He will preform a variety of ritual spellwork on people for the right price. The sick, the depressed, those "possessed" by bad things and need a cleansing... A Palmero is a Priest of Palo who will provide services for cash. This is extremely dangerous territory. I know of people who have gone to see him in this matter, and while at first it seems good and looking better, everything just immediately goes to hell. My friend brought his 2 young boys in to Nico with certain med conditions. Nick was confident he could help and went about cleansing them (not a cleansing at all but more an initiation) and did his dance and killed a couple chickens, blah blah. Well within 6 months both boys health just plummeted without any explanation from medical, ths doctors didnt know what to do bc they didn't know what was happening. My friend lost both his boys that year... Many other stories come creeping out from his doings. Please be careful while in there. He may play kind and easy going But he is smart and cunning. Once I was in there and was asking him about some herbs, and as I left I reached my hand out to shake. He froze, almost terrified, and said "I don't shake hands". Well reason being, in Palo one person can take control of a person through a simple ritual setup and handshake. E-mail me or ask questions if u want. Sorry so long but it's important ppl know what exactly...
Read moreNico's Botanica has an incredible selection of herbs, roots, candles, incense, stones, etc. for those who are practicing any select Spiritual Path, for Magical Practitioners, or for those who are simply searching for some herbal remedies or cool candles. Although I have never used Nico as a "Spiritual Healer" personally, I hear that he is very powerful and that he does very credible work. He is a very genuine man who seems always happy to assist you in any way, as well as answer any questions whenever you walk into his store. I honestly did not expect, and was shocked, to find such a great resource for such items in a town like Florence (no offense), but it is definitely a "must-see" for those who are interested in seeking their ownSpiritual Path towards illumination...

The knowledge, down the practice is definitely a chef’s kiss 🤌🏽. I get all my baths, candles, herbs incense and resin from them. If in doubt don’t be! They will guide you with no judgement. When I say all are welcome… I mean just that. Safe place and the VIBE is everything. Reminds me of home! Shoot it is home for...
