Replying to @McKenna We love staying at Tropic Hideaway when we visit Foley, Alabama! It is a great RV resort we originally stumbled upon it because my parents don’t have a camper so they were able to stay at the Marriott nearby and we were able to stay at this RV resort. It is all within the complex of OWA from what I understand. Which is all about a mile and a half from one end to the other.

We did like our stay at Tropic Hideaway RV resort. Everything was brand new! We added a night to our stay and the staff was very accommodating. We had an issue with one of the laundry driers and the staff helped us out right away and refunded our money on drier and started the machine for us. Great customer service. The golf cart rentals were not available for our stay in the opening week, but it seems to be a problem with the city approval process, not an issue with Tropic Hideaway. The grounds are Great! Everything was new and well laid out. The pool area was our favorite. They have a nice cooking area set up in the shade right next to the pool area, and it has a good amount of seating. If you are booking near the August Grand Opening, call to make the booking and you might be able to get the 30% off promotion that we missed out on! We enjoyed the pickle ball courts too. Thanks

We are full time RVer, came here for a week in between jobs and that turned into a month long stay (for now) and we ain’t complaining This resort is nicely laid out, the concrete lots are big and ample grass area in between. We love that the club house is in the middle of the resort so it’s very accessible for anyone, the pool area is pretty with plenty chair, I only wish it was heated cause December in Foley is too cold for a plunge. Staff are friendly and helpful, the night we got here was really late, the security/maintenance guy ran into us and was extremely helpful and nice. The park is a stone throw to anything you need, yet tucked away so it’s very quite Will definitely stay here again!

We visited the last week of March. Sites are spacious and level. Resort is well maintained. The electric grills were nice and we made kabobs one night. The pools are not temperature controlled and are uncomfortably cold, which was a huge disappointment for us. Showers/changing rooms only have shower curtains and could, in my opinion, have doors, which would make it a little more private and comfortable. I took 2 showers on site. The first took at least 5 minutes to get hot and was fine. The second took even longer to get hot and the hot water ran out about a quarter of the way through my shower (within a few minutes). I decided to just shower in my camper after that. 2 community gas fire pits-one of them wouldn’t turn on for us. The last night we were at the resort, a family arrived and basically took the place over. We waited a good 30 minutes for kids to get done playing volleyball/fighting on the pickle ball courts. They had repeatedly jumped in the pool and ran onto the courts, making them slippery and wet. I should mention that the pickle ball courts are nice and well maintained. The lights for night play are cool, but we went to turn them off after we were done one night and the light switch was broken and they wouldn’t turn off. The same kids threw chairs in the pool and were playing tag around both pools. I noticed a family walk into the pool area and leave because of the rowdiness. Parents of these kids were useless and only screamed at the kids to stop if they saw them do something they didn't like, otherwise, they didn’t want to take care of their kids and let them run around like they owned the place. Such a disappointment at the end of our stay, but glad is was our last night. I’m hoping management watched the security videos...

We stayed here last week for few days while the kids were on spring break. I am not sure what qualifies a park to be a “resort” but this is definitely a park and sleep type of place.

Pros: The bathrooms were clean and well maintained It was all paved so good for riding bikes, taking walks, etc It was very convenient to OWA less than a minute away

Cons: There is no shade in any of the spots, eventually the trees will grow and mature but right now it is just a paved open area There is not a playground or really anything for the kids to do There is not a space like an activity center or club house. These are so helpful especially now days with so many of us working remotely, I usually will post up in those types of spaces to work during the day. I went to the outdoor area but the TVs were blasting so it was not really a space I could go to. No fire pits The trashcans that are underground were not changed the entire time we were there There is a cell giant tower right in your view no matter what spot you are in Its nestled in a neighborhood with a sports complex across the street so between the lights and the games it was quite loud No fishing, hiking, or anything close by Pool water is freezing cold, yes, even for the kids

If you want to relax and enjoy the outdoors, go ahead and pass on this one. (Jellystone would be closer to that vibe)

If you need a place to sleep while you visit Foley and that’s it, this might be...

Don’t get me wrong, sites are great, level, long and well maintained EXCEPT for an enormous ant problem. We stayed as a family of four separate RVs, and all became infested with ants crawling in via power/sewer/water and levelers touching the ground. Nieces woke screaming covered in ants. ||||Also, because we didn’t pay a lock fee, the staff intentionally moved one Rv from our group to the outermost corner of the park. When asked for some discretion (park was only at about 50% capacity for our entire stay) and to place them in one of the TWO empty spots next to my motorhome, the response from staff was “well I’m sorry but you should have paid the lock fee”. Not an offer to upgrade them with an additional charge, just no and we are putting your trailer in the corner. The two spots next to me remained empty our entire stay, as I said the park was at about 50% capacity. ||||Also our entire stay the female bathrooms/bath house was inoperative due to some sewer issue. The pools are decent, and the dog park was excellent and maintained very well besides the 5-6 piles of excrement left in it on the morning we checked out. It was spotless on the day we checked in, and while users should take care of this, I would expect a groundskeeper to check occasionally. ||||It’s not terrible for a quick stop at a reasonable rate, but we won’t be staying here again after the sad customer...
