I have only visited the shop once which was a couple of hours before writing this review. OMG the place blew me away, it is a hidden gem of the village of Otisville. The parking lot was full and I know it wasn't for the store next door if that store is even open lol. It looks like they had to lay some gravel down to extend the parking lot which is rather large to be honest. I had a difficult time with parking in a full lot which is a good thing because that means the shop is thriving.
Getting out of my car and heading into the store I didn't know what door to use and I realized that the shop took up what looked to be 2 units. One side was set up with tables for playing TCG's and there were people playing and having a good time. I was envious of the enjoyment they were getting from being able to play with each other. Needless to say there are not many places that people gather to play TCG's, let alone people actually being there. It was like a dream.
I could tell that everyone was passionate about their hobby, which is also the same as mine by the way and I am extremely passionate about collecting cards because they are works of art. The storefront was headed by Cody and Tyler who were extremely friendly, I honestly saw sincerity in how inviting they were to welcome another into their fold, lol. Apparently it the shop is owned by 2 brothers, I think they said Dylan, which is also my brother's name, does the ordering and Cody who I met. Cody was very nice just like everyone else there and it was very exciting to be in the presence of like minded people so i was very geeked out.
They specialize in Yu-Gi-Oh (one of the first TCG's i have played years ago when I was a wee lad) and One Piece which is what I was there for, there were other trading cards lime pokemon but that isn't their focus. Every buisness of their type seems to focus on pokemon so it is refreshing to see something different, something new, something needed. Their selection of products left a little to be desired but for a fairly new business was excellent.
Also what they specialize in other stores are always sold out of, One Piece cards in specific. I left with less money in my wallet than I came in with but the prices were extremely reasonable. Even if you come across these cards at the big retailers you will I promise you will be paying more. Also there are pre-order windows I found out for certain products.
They sell single cards, boosters packs, and boxes. I was actually not asked to write to write a review but felt it was necessary. I only write reviews when I am either extremely impressed or extremely disappointed or dissatisfied. My main focus of my reviews are about how the employees treat me and others, needless to say they over achieved at creating a friendly welcoming environment. Also the staff seemed very happy to be there. I would l Iike to see this business grow and would like to remind readers to support your local economy. It is very important as there are more deserving business owners that struggle with staying open let alone make a profit. CEO's make enough so don't feel too bad for them by shopping at a locally owned business.
I am going to participate in the community that they so graciously started and they made me feel welcome and not like an outcast or stragler. Not only do I collect but the excitement of being able to play with others who are passionate about the same hobby as you makes me want to play. So I will. This is by far the longest review I have ever written unless you count negative reviews. To cap this off I will just remind readers to support locally owned businesses and will continue to update my review as I become a more frequent customer, TCG player, and become more accustomed to the buisness. Also I will update this review with pictures of what they do and what they sell. If those that are playing will grant me permission to take pictures, remember to ask before taking a picture of someone randomly because it is the polite thing to do. I thank you if you read...
Read moreA terrible event turned into a good night. I drove a hour and a half to a Gundam starter ST05 deck tourney here. I called the store two days earlier just to make sure they would have the starter decks in stock and the cashier said they did. Once my friends and I got to the store for the event we were informed they didn't have the starter decks🙃. I was first super upset, but Dylan did display great customer service with trying to correct the issue and even held an instant tournament for all the Gundam players. Additionally, he even offered to mail us the starter decks once they have them in stock free of charge. I respect them owning the mistake and making things right with the customers. I hope he really sends the starter decks. But overall I respect that Dylan and the store turned a bad experience as a first time customer into a fun night with great...
Read moreOwners of this store are passionate about the games they play. They've gone out of their way to provide A+ customer service every time I've visited. They have created a community of gamers in their respective trading card games and have a "player-first" mentality. Tournaments are ran efficiently and always start on time and never go too late. Worth driving out of your way to visit this store. Can't wait to see them continue to grow their business. They accept TCG trade-ins for cash or store credit, with very generous...
