Update - lowered by 2 stars: My go to store has been steadily declining in regards to customer service. On a visit in late 2019 we had a $150 item double scanned by the cashier. We discovered the problem immediately after walking towards the door and went to the manager's counter just inside. We wished to have the refunded amount returned back to the card but this apparently wasn't an option. To add insult to injury we were told the ONLY option was a store credit. We went out and then returned immediately to the service counter to return the entire order. Got everything we needed later that day at Lowe's. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago and we have been isolated due to Covid for a year (high risk child). Over that time we have had zero problems with deliveries... except for Menards. Mistakes happen, I get it, but when I contacted customer service they told me the burden of proof was on me (rather than their courier service who does not take pictures at the door or require a signature) and they could not help without me filing a police report for a stolen package. The problem is I have 4 cameras covering the front of my property so no delivery was ever made... thus no theft... thus no police report. Ended up having to contact Chase to dispute and charge back. Short story.... I'll probably still use Menards once this is all over but they have lost my business while we're locked down.... and Lowe's is technically the closer option.
My go to DIY supply store. I've had great experiences but I've also had a couple of bad... it's bound to happen when you spend a lot of time at one place. Considering I keep coming back, probably at least once a week (more when I have a project going on), for around 20 years... well they must be doing something right. Staff is mostly friendly (everyone has their days), most all are extremely knowledgeable when you need some advice, and they've got a great variety for all kinds of projects. I very rarely run into a problem of them not having what I'm...
Read moreDealt with a manager named Tom pertaining to an order on counter tops. This was my first time ordering counter tops and it turned out to be a complete disaster. First of all, my order had multiple things wrong with it. The main one being the install kit was missing. When I picked it up the store employee informed me that my entire order was there and helped load it which was nice. After arriving home, my contractor notices that the install kit was missing with the order. I went back to the store and he had left for the day at 4pm and he was the only "manager" who could help. Kind of crazy that you leave work early on a Saturday. But that's neither here nor there. So now I have to wait until the next day to discuss the issue. The next day he advised me to call the company they contract to discuss the missing items. I'm sorry I thought I was doing business with Menards. Why do I have to call your 3rd party vendor? That's your job so I made sure he did that. Additionally, with all the mishaps.. my contractor charged me an additional $800 because of something that was out of his control. When I asked Tom if there was anything he could do about all the issues. He said no, there's nothing to be done. I definitely wasn't asking him for money, I did expect expedited shipping for the kit. Which I haven't received and it's been OVER A WEEK. This has caused me to complain to the store supervisor (Rob) and he told me to fill out a form that takes 5-6 weeks to get reviewed AND I figured out he's a liar too. The man told me I could print out my receipt because I accidentally left it at their store and it got tossed in the trash. I spoke to home office and they were able to provide me with one. All in all a terrible experience and I'll give my business to anyone else. Menards motto of "quality and service" was grossly NOT met. Shame on all involved. Do better and be better. OR find a different...
Read moreMy daughter and I had quite an experience there on April 19th. I noticed at least one customer walking into the store with their dog as we arrived. The dog was on a leash, so I thought nothing more of it. Our first time there, I didn’t know where the outdoor furniture section was so I was looking left and right and wasn’t paying attention in front of me. My foot slipped and I would have fallen had I not been pushing a cart! I was horrified to see what has caused me to slip and almost fall. A pile of dog poop was in the middle of the aisle! And of course it was on my shoe!
We went looking for someone to let them know. None of the employees seemed to know what to do or who to tell, so I approached an employee named Ryan. I don’t think either of us had ever had that same set of circumstances before so we were both more than a little flustered. But Ryan rose to the challenge. He did his best to clean my shoe, and quickly got together resources to take care of the situation. He made an extremely awkward, embarrassing, smelly situation better by his calm, kind, reassuring and respectful demeanor.
And I just wanted the store manager to know what a truly great employee the Forsyth Menards has in a young...
