April 4, 2022, 2:30 AM: We were aware that jets would be flying over our homes until 10:30 PM each night! It was said that they need practice night time flying. We agree with that.
But we were sound asleep when a horrendous ROARING sound from JETS flying over our homes at 2:30 AM and woke us out of a sound sleep! Obviously it is unnerving to be woken in such a rude and obnoxious manner! At 7:30 AM we were still awake when our alarm went off! SO THANKS AGAIN HILL AIR FORCE BASE!
REALLY! I am updating my review! On February 15 2022 at exactly 12:41AM Jets woke us up and were so loud it was unbearable! In addition to that our houses shook! I thought for sure that Russia had invaded Ukraine! WRONG! They stopped for about 10 minutes and started all over again at 1AM. They need to fly while it is dark but it is dark far before midnight! We need our rest as well as everyone else that suffers because of these flights. They were here before all of these homes were built, but there has been growth in the entire state of Utah. Noise ordinance apparently does not apply to them. Day and night we suffer because of these fly overs. How about taking turns flying over each and every city and town that benefits from our military. Fly over GREAT SALT LAKE! The brine flies won't mind!
Since my last review my husband had a stroke and I have had breast cancer surgery and six weeks of radiation. We need rest and relaxation.
This still applies: Every morning at 7 a.m. airplanes start flying over our house near Ogden Regional Medical Center. It not only is noisy, it shakes our houses. All of the neighbors are complaining and it seems to me like they are flying lower every day. It goes on for hours and if you're talking on the phone you are disconnected. Can't you find another flight Path over the Great Salt Lake? Because of the coronavirus we are home almost always and this is past being is irritating and...
Read moreWe attended the Hill Air Force airshow yesterday and had a great experience. You have to be there when gates open, and plan to wait in line, but it's TOTALLY WORTH IT. We got there around 9:15am (gates open at 8, show starts at 10), got a great parking spot, after being directed by dedicated kind service men and women. Then walk about ten minutes to get in line near the gate. We then waited in line for about one hour, bring an umbrella to lessen the heat! I wish they had a few more medal detectors, but again it's worth it. They allow small bags and small coolers. PACK CHAIRS AND WATER BOTTLES as there are water stations to refill water. The umbrellas are huge to provide shade as there is little shade near the runway where you want to be. You can find shade under the wing of the large aircraft but these are further away. If you have small kids this is a great place to watch the show, since the biggest won't be as loud either. When you are close to the runway like we were YOU NEED EARPLUGS!! The noise is damage level and so they really are necessary. There are people selling all these supplies (umbrella, chairs, earplugs, water bottles) in case you forget them. There are vendors to purchase overpriced food like all other outdoor places, we brought our own food but enjoyed ice cream from a truck.
Bathrooms were located in three different locations and there was always enough that there was no line. Thanks for the sanitization stations in front of them.
As we left, again service men and women directed traffic and did a great job helping move the masses. They provided shuttles to those who arrived on TRAX and parked far away.
During the show everybody stands up to see the best view of what's flying by, so don't get upset if that happens. Just stand up with everyone else and grab a...
Read moreI have lived on Hill AFB for 3 years now and am moving stations. Now I not an airman so I moved here without knowing anything about this base and no real bias seeing how I will just be living here and working out in town so it would not be that bad. I was sorely mistaken. If this is what the air force is like then God bless the airmen cause their life is terrible. Everything closes early and civilians and retirees get preference on everything. Everything on this base has a dinge to it. There is a gym and a half and it seems to be more of a hangout spot for contractors then a place to work out. I have never seen so few gyms on a base, and trust me it shows there is a lack of exercise culture to these airmen. The gate gaurds are a whole different story, all I can say is that the civilian gaurds are more disciplined then the airmen. The clinic on base is pretty pointless unless you have a minor cold. Overall I am so glad to leave here. Very thankful I am not in the airforce and definitely realize how big of a joke this place is. 0...
