I had the pleasure of booking a half day with Utah Mountain Adventures. From the booking process to the awesome climb it was a great experience. Joseph Hobby is an excellent guide who took plenty of time to teach solid techniques and ensure you hit your goals for the day. He was also has a great approach to finding that balance of challenging yourself but maintaining safety. Five stars.

This is by far the best way to find out about the REAL mountains in SLC's backyard. I've worked with them frequently for five years on backcountry skiing, ski mountaineering, rock climbing, mountaineering, and avalanche education. They are safety-minded, highly skilled, and greatly attentive to personal goals. Truly a top-notch group of guides!

Today, we did a canyoneering skills class with Mike-our guide. He was amazing! He was patient and shared a wealth of knowledge. I cried on each of my descents, but I never felt unsafe at the same time. We learned canyoneering skills up at Dogwood Park in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Thanks, Mike for making our first experience memorable and safe.

The office staff was really courteous and flexible. They worked very hard to put together a joint, private backcountry ski tour for me over a very busy week in February. It didn't exactly work out as they planned due to someone else's last minute cancellation, but they kindly honored their commitment to me. They matched me up with guide Todd Passey, a world class mountain and climbing guide for my skinning & skiing tour. Todd was amazing, so experienced. He showed me how to do things that I never would have thought imaginable. He put me in a position to really push my limits ascending and descending Kessler Peak. He was very courteous and put safety first. He treated me with a ton of respect knowing when to push and when to be patient. I can't wait to tour with UMA again. Thanks so much for a life...

The original climbing date was Sat. Sept. 21. My guide Quino called the day before and helped me be sure I had the right equipment for the route. We decided to do the climb on the alternate date of Sept. 22 because conditions would be more favorable. When I arrived at the rendezvous point Quino was there waiting for me. We had a good climb. Quino knew the route well. He was very patient and attentive without being overbearing or obtrusive. He also has a very pleasant demeanor. I really enjoyed the outing. It was quite challenging but not overwhelming. I definitely could not and would not have made it without a guide like Quino. Thank you for all of your service. I will use you again if I am fortunate enough to visit Utah again. Thanks,...

We would highly recommend Utah Mountain Adventures and guide Winslow Passey. We have been back-country skiing for many years and love going with guides who not only know the ranges, but understand the importance of safety and our risk tolerances. We spent time up front discussing what we were looking for, especially since this was my 15 year old daughter's first time alpine touring. During the tour, Winslow continued to teach us avalanche clues and safe travel (you can never learn enough) and specifically spent time with my daughter so she understood what was necessary. But just as importantly, Winslow hunted and found, good, untracked powder which was not easy given the lack of a lot of new snow and a busy back-country. Looking forward to...
