SO MUCH PROMISE, SO MUCH DISAPPOINTMENT
The property, 2536 Holtrock Street, is certainly well placed to access the various Walt Disney Resort Parks and the on-site community pool and clubhouse are a welcome bonus. However, when we (6 adults & 4 children 7 to 9 years old) arrived at the villa it was clear that the property was not up to the expected standard, not only was the cleanliness to a 'lick and a promise' standard but maintenance was distinctly lacking. We would call it dirty! There was evidence of dust and detritus behind and under furniture, on top of the headboards, skirting boards, and decorative molding on the walls. Hair and dust had gathered into fur balls and were in clumps under furniture and along the edges of walls. We insisted that children took shoes off when entering but quite frankly they would have been well advised to wipe their feet before they left the property! Socks will never come clean again.
Come on..... You are on the brink of something good here. Quality and standards were lacking for us and I'm disappointed that I can't report we got value for money but you could quickly and easily make such a difference. Words such as Standards, Quality, Pride, Team Effort, Coordination, Leadership, Clear Job Descriptions, and Reward all come into...
Read moreMy family of 6 stayed here last week via AirBNB. As soon as I arrived, in a professional airport shuttle (Mears was great by the way) the gate security was giving us a difficult time, it was as tough to enter as getting through TSA and the elderly gentlemen was less than friendly and more like a strict bouncer at a prestigious night club. We arrived about 6 hours prior to check-in. The manager approached us as soon as we began unloading our bags by the front office and was a little less than friendly. I asked if they could hold our bags while we chilled by the pool until check in, she said we could hang out in the breezeway (for 6 hours? LOL)... inevitably she ended up being helpful, albeit not incredibly friendly, and we grabbed our luggage and sat by the pool. I told her we didn't rent a car and would be using Uber to get around, she said no problem, just make sure the Uber driver is legit and has a license... I guess unlicensed Uber driver's is a thing in the area? Anyway, my biggest complaint is the inconsistency with the security gate and management and Uber/Lyft... I'm not blaming it on the security personal, I have to guess it's more of a top-down management issue... EVERY Uber driver (over 15 throughout our stay, including Uber Eats) said they hate this place. They gave them a hard time, every time. One of my driver's got 100% denied and before I could run out to the front gate he had driven away and I got an Uber charge. EVERY Uber I called said they frequent the area, there are much nicer, fancier communities but this one stands out as easily the worst security gate to get through. Management needs to work on this.
But overall... the place was fine. The folks in the market place / grill were over the top friendly, really really great folks in there. The facilities were nice. But if you're taking taxis, Uber/Lyft I would not stay here. And since I rarely rent, I would happily pay more for any other place to avoid the hellish time we had getting Ubers to take us to the parks. It was...
Read moreJust got back from our stay at Windsor Hills Resort. We have two young children (ages 8 and 6) who love swimming so we decided to come here on the advice of friends. The condo we stayed in was fine, and the small private pool (about 10' x 10') was okay, but our kids were more interested in the large pool available to all guests.
The larger communal pool also has a water slide available to guests who are about 42" tall and above. There are several posted rules that must be followed, and there is a lifeguard on duty who enforces these rules. Our first day was great, the female lifeguard on duty was strict but fair to all the children, explaining the rules to them if they were not following them. Our second visit to the pool was a much different one.
As mentioned in a previous review, the "cantankerous" lifeguard was on duty. I would use the word "bully" instead, as it is much more accurate of his actions that day. He would regularly yell at the children, with many of them simply leaving the queue instead of putting up with his harassment. He did not wear a lifeguard whistle, and relied on yelling instead. And on top of that, he would regularly check his phone while he was supposed to be supervising the kids. One little child was singled out for not being able to speak English! My children didn't want to return to the pool after that visit, and it was in no small part to the intimidation they felt when being around him.
Either this guy hates kids, hates his job, or is just an idiot. Either way, he has no place working with kids. I also spoke with the manager at guest services to discuss his behaviour, and I was basically told he's doing a great job.
This may seem like a trivial gripe, but when your kids love the pool and are too uncomfortable to enjoy it, it becomes something a bit more than trivial. This is bullying, pure and simple, and it is condoned by management. We won't...
