Visiting Cannon Mountain in Franconia, New Hampshire, on June 29th, 2024, was an absolute thrill! This iconic mountain has everything you could want for a perfect day in the outdoors.
Firstly, the views are out of this world. Standing at the summit, I was treated to sweeping vistas of the White Mountains and beyond. The clear skies and fresh mountain air made every moment feel exhilarating and refreshing.
The hiking trails at Cannon Mountain are superbly maintained and offer a range of difficulty levels, catering to both casual hikers and seasoned adventurers. The trails wind through lush forests and meadows, occasionally opening up to breathtaking overlooks that are perfect for capturing memorable photos.
For those who love a bit of adrenaline, the Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway is a must-do experience. Riding up to the summit in the tram provided panoramic views that are simply unparalleled. It's an effortless way to access the top and enjoy the scenery without the strenuous climb.
The Franconia Notch State Park, where Cannon Mountain is located, is a playground for outdoor enthusiasts. In addition to hiking and tram rides, visitors can explore the Flume Gorge, swim in Echo Lake, or simply relax amidst nature's beauty.
One of the highlights of my visit was visiting the Old Man of the Mountain Historic Site. It was fascinating to learn about the geological history of the region and the significance of the iconic rock formation that once graced Cannon Mountain's cliffs.
Overall, my day at Cannon Mountain was filled with adventure, natural beauty, and a deep appreciation for New Hampshire's stunning landscapes. Whether you're hiking, riding the tram, or simply enjoying the views, Cannon Mountain offers an unforgettable experience for everyone. I can't wait to return and explore more of what this incredible mountain...
Read moreI am writing this review mainly because of Peter in the tuning/repair shop. He not only saved my skiing day but probably saved me months of frustration and discomfort. Peter gets 10/5 stars!
I had just recently purchased a pair of ski boots and I took them to cannon to give them a go. The boots were painful at first, I could only last one run before having to take my boots off, so I took them to the tuning shop where Peter gave me some advice and offered me a quick and easy solution. Within 5 minutes I was heading back to the lift with some insoles that he recommended. The insoles were a total game changer, nearly all of my pain was gone, the only other pain areas were expected for a new boot.
As for my experience on the mountain…I think I caught them on a bad day, I'll have to come back. With the right conditions, this mountain would be really good.
The good Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff My trail pass scanned every time through my pocket, never had to take it out Good variety of trails for someone who is practicing Full bar and a couple places to eat
The not so good Very icy when I went - nearly every trail had a lot of ice Half of the trails were not open Some open trails did not have...

it offers nearly 100 ski trails and glades covering 25 miles and the highest ski area summit in NH! But Cannon offers plenty of summer attractions as well. though I am not an expert in skiing, after reading about skiing, I am planning to come here again in winter.
you start with Cannon Mountain Aerial Tramway- This 80-passenger cable car is the highlight of the day, Be sure to arrive on the allotted time (you need to book in advance). The Tramway Country Store offers a variety of souvenirs and goodies to take home. Come and get some Gifford’s ice cream. It was a quick ride (8-10 minutes) to the top. You get a nice view of Echo Lake on the way as well as Franconia Ridge. If you are looking for a quick walk around the summit, the Rim Trail has beautiful views, and a watch tower and is surrounded by beautiful alpine mosses and flowers. It is a short 1500-foot path that loops back around to the tram.
Be it winter or summer, Cannon Mountain has something...
