Had some time to kill in Franklin and stopped by to visit. There seems to be a big difference in what I remember the last time I visited a Habitat Restore in Chesapeake and this store.
My first impression was a sign that warned potential donors NOT to leave donations during hours they aren't open because it would be construed as "DUMPING". Not welcoming for anyone who would like to donate during the limited hours you are actually open.
I went in and looked around and was surprised by the pricing. Stuff you could get new at comparable prices and antiques severely underpriced. I've read the comments from the "owner" to others who commented about pricing and I suppose I could "go to Walmart" and get the stuff new. (Who, by the way, talks to customers that way?)
The indication that the pricing is wrong is product on the sales floor that is nine months old. The idea of business is to get product sold, not have it sit around for nine months.
There's a reason the hours are limited. There's a reason people are complaining about prices. Did the ownership of these stores change in the past five years?
By the way, I know how to go thrift shopping, I know I can always find something at a Goodwill or CHKD that I need/want. And I know what that item costs new at a retailer. I see reviews that people can find all kinds of stuff at this Restore - today must have...
Read moreIts a great store, but please whoever is looking on the internet and pricing things like they were new, or should be in a museum.... please stop. We know the money goes towards great causes, but none of us are doing great now and part of the appeal of buying in a "thrift" shop is exactly that. Staff is always just exceptionally nice, not trying to take away from the great people who make this...
Read moreNever again. I called for DONATION pickup. I understand if you don't want something but either take it and get rid of it later or don't take it all. These guys inspected things like they were buying , complained about stuff, and actually made me cry they were so rude. My husband had me leave the area. They turned a good deed into a horrible experience. You...
