Deeply Disappointed and Concerned ā Chemical Burn and No Accountability
On 5/12/25, I received a highlight and lowlight service at Hair 2 Dare Salonāan experience that turned out to be not only deeply disappointing but genuinely painful and concerning.
As a licensed cosmetologist with over five years of experience getting my own hair highlighted and colored, Iāve never had an issueāuntil now.
My stylist was 10 minutes late, which delayed an already long process that ended up taking over 4 hours. I had foils in my hair for more than 2 hoursāfar too long for lightener to safely process. This is basic chemical safety that all professionals should know.
At the shampoo bowl, a wet towel was pressed against my neck. I now believe it had bleach or lightener on it, as I left the salon with a chemical burn on my neck. Since then, the lower portion of my scalp has been peeling and is still painful.
The salon offered no apology, no compensation, and took no accountability. Instead, they simply suggested I take Benadryl. That is not an appropriate or professional response to a chemical injury.
To make matters worse, they tried to claim it was my body āhaving a reactionāādespite my history of safely receiving the same services for years without issue and the fact that it was only the lower portion of my scalp where the chemicals were left the longest. This was clearly due to overprocessing and improper chemical handling.

Waited and when the receptionist returned she said that "Alex" wanted to talk with me first. About what? I don't know and neither did the receptionist. About 5 minutes go by and I ask what they need to talk to me about. Since she didn't know, she goes to ask "Alex" and at that point I wasn't really feeling the need to wait for some interview to get a haircut. I've never been asked that before by anyone who's fone my hair. If it's a thing then thats fine just new to me. Seemed strange to do that for a walk in customer that normally tips well. Regardless, I went to let the receptionist know to not worry about it and that I was going somewhere else. As I look near the back where she's talking with "Alex" I notice that this guy is just standing there nonchalantly, almost as if he was killing time. Suffice it to say, not giving my business to this place. Would have loved a haircut and to come back since it's close to me but guess they're not intrested in gaining...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJackie is the best! I'm multi-racial (black, white, lebanese, and more..) and still, Jackie managed to do a perfect blow out and EXCELLENT trim in just over an hour. As I kept repeating (over...and over...and over..), she makes it look easy to tame my hair AND IT IS NOT EASY.
If I do my own blow out, it can take 2.5 hrs from start to finish, and it still doesn't look even a fraction as good as a Jackie/Hair 2 Dare blow out.
This is my 2nd appointment with her, and I will be back! The first time I met her, she did beautiful ombre coloring for me...so, she really can do it all.
P.S. she does great brow shaping also! Jackie and the rest of the staff are friendly, warm, honest, and make the best coffee. Love it here!
Did I mention that...I...
