Went to donate some items after a yard sale and Ill be looking for alternative places to donate from now on. Ive come to this location about 3 times to donate car loads/several boxes of items from going through my parents home that have passed away. The last time I came there was no attendant at the drop off area I went in the store and it appeared they were short staffed. The gal at the front said the attendant outside had just went on his lunch and that I could bring the items inside up to their counter. After my 4th trip inside another male employee was up at the front and displayed a very annoyed look at me as I was passing the boxes up to the counter. It was a little off putting as I was just doing as the female employee had directed and he was just not very friendly in the process. Today's experience was not much better. The roll up door was open for the deop off area and their was a car that was parked in front basically taking up most of the room. A women got out of the car and basically parked her car and went into the store itself.. again there was no attendant so as I walked up with my first box I caught sight of two gentlemen towards the back of the intake area. I asked if it was okay to place the boxes I was donating there at the entrance but within the loading area itself. He responded saying that was fine. There was a sign that said "no electric" but no example or further detail of what that entailed. On this visit I had a large coffee maker and another individual cup coffee maker. Both of these items were already on the ground and another different male employee walked up picked up one of the coffee makers and proceeded to hand it back to me. Didn't say hello, didnt tell me why he was handing it to me nothing. As I went yo take the item from him I asked the question, " you dont accept these?" And literally didnt respond to me. I placed it in my car and had the final box from the load I had brought and then he picked up the second individual glass coffee maker and asked me if the item was mine. I was the only one there dropping anything off and was like yes? And he handed it back to me. Again with no explanation or friendliness or anything. Like me and my items were an annoyance to him. I dont know what's happening at this location for employees to be acting this way to people donating items but it certainly makes a person not want to come back again. I mean you cant even respond when someone is speaking to you....
Read morewent to Amvet's today. the parking lot was EMPTY.. so weird. normally, senior day has a line to get in....Well...I soon discovered why. New management is out to take every one of your pennies. they have reduced the veterans 20% discount to 10%. they have reduced the seniors day discount from 20% to 10%. they've done away altogether with their Thursday, student and teachers discount, and they will only do one color discount a day at 50% rather than the two one at 50% the other at 75%. and they don't combine any discounts anymore. so if you're a senior. Or a veteran, you can not get that on top of the daily discount anymore. You can have one or the other. and if you have a 50% off item, you have to get back in line in order to get that 50% off if you're a senior or a veteran. Because they will not ring up one with the other. so today, I was FORCED to only Ring up my regular priced items with my 10% senior discount. Then anything that was the daily 50% off, I had to keep in my cart. Turn around, get back in line and wait to ring them up separately..no...im not joking. They refused to do separate ringing in an effort to Make it as Inconvenient as possible for you to get a discount. The discount that they offered to get you here to begin with.. So..if you are a senior or a veteran and you have 10 things in your cart, you can ring them all up at your discount 10%. But if you happen to have a daily 50% off, they won't give you that at 50% off, you have to get back in line. It's really messed up. and the poor cashiers feel terrible because they've got management Watching them like Hawks and will punish them if they try to do the right thing. Unbelievable...just ridiculous. Last bit...pricing isnhigher in...
Read moreThis use to be my favorite place to donate and to shop. Lately they turn away more of my donations than they accept and it's completely frustrating because there is no logic to it. They have a list of stuff they no longer accept, but you can't get a copy of it, so you completely waste your time taking a truck load over there. They have some young kid who looks at my stuff like it's garbage, and he accepts bags of yarn and old clothing, but gorgeous antique furniture with expensive inlaid wood he turns away. He turned away a set of perfectly good office chairs because they were dusty. He claimed they were stained, but I showed him it was just dust from ten years in storage. I have tons of amazing, quality antique furniture most people would die for, that I just can't afford to keep paying to store and want to know it's going to a good use rather than sending it to the dump. I don't have time to play furniture dealer and try selling this stuff, but apparantly AmVets is now no longer interested in quality donations. I will never go...
