Johnson's Giant Food — Local services in Gadsden

Great people great store . Love the Hot food bar as well it's not like other grocery stores it's like it's own restraunt. Also they have really good smoked meats .

I do suggest if you go into the one in East Gadsden later in afternoon or night don't wear your work uniform and lock your car. This is not a knock on Johnson's because they do a great job of keeping the panhandlers away and they have armed security on site when they are open . The times I have been there after dark I have been approached and asked for money but the people were asked to leave before I could even answer .

If you do have any problems in the parking lot don't hesitate to ask Phyllis or Johnny( armed guard) to get involved they will and they will not but up with any nonsense .

I am a little partial because Mac Johnson gave me and and even offered my wife a job when we were younger. They are just good people all around . Also have really good prices and are usually cheaper than Walmart and especially cheaper than other grocery stores. I literally go here almost daily . Check my reviews 😆 if a place is bad I don't hesitate to tell people this place is good trust me .

Also read a review where someone called the manager a " mean old lady" again I may be biased but she is anything but mean. She's a great person and goes out of her way to help people . However she is no nonsense if one tries to pull some trickery on her one might find them self in a situation they don't like . Again not mean by any stretch . Located in the downtown area which is convenient. The cost of off brand or generic prices are astronomical and the mark up on name brand products has got to be a joke. The parking is cramped and getting from your car to the store is a challenge. Leaving from inside the store is chaotic and employees will stand right outside the door talking and act like it's an inconvenience to move. As cramped as the lot feels coming in, it feels worse trying to get to the car and unload the buggy there is just no room for people, grocery carts, and automobiles. It's not welcoming I no way are they thankful. And whatever you do, do not get caught in there as they are closing. Very rude and when I explained that I was legally blind, I was told I should have gotten there sooner. I'll never go back to a Johnson's...

I love this store and I shop here for all of my groceries, I love the atmosphere of this store and the staff is incredibly friendly and nice. I've yet to purchase a piece of produce I wasn't incredibly happy with and the prices are always good. They have the best meat department in town by far and always have good sales in the weekly add. Also, the deli is amazing they have fresh smoked meats (ribs, boston butt, chicken breast etc) everyday as well as the best buffalo chicken salad in the world.
