If you Came to this Island ๐ to make a quick buck on Short Term Rentals and leave..Then Thanks, I probably bought your property for 30% below asking ๐๐.
HOWEVER..for the rest of us who Truly enjoy this beautiful hidden gem ๐ (which is not so hidden anymore) I say WOW ๐คฏ. I fell in love the minute I crossed that bridge. My wife's dream was to own something close to waterfront and boy did Galveston deliver. After Months of research, YouTube videos etc I knew this was a magical place. And to think ๐ค I got a property here for the price of a new Cybertruck ๐..But unlike the cybertruck Galveston is resilient towards water and floods..๐ป๐๐. The Strand is amazing, you are literally stepping back in the 1900s. The Many beaches with beautiful birds ๐ฆ, and wetlands. People are pretty chill and seem to be accustomed to the mass tourism happening. There's always an event happening here year round. Walking on the beach at midnight with 80ยฐ water at my feet and felt safe the whole time, police dont seem bother anyone and the sidewalks are lit up for MILES. This is the 2nd biggest investment I've made in my life and I am extremely happy with it. I always leave this Island with a sense of awe and peace before I gotta get back to the grind of work, traffic and bills ๐ฅต. And let us NOT FORGET !! The awesome Bernardo de Galvez (and his sexy horse๐ด ) the Spaniard of 1776 who made this Island possible. Who took 4 bullets and 4 hurricanes to help and assist our Patriots overcome the British by land and sea. Friend of George Washington who went on to become a Count and Viceroy by age 35 ..amazing.. He was finally recognized as an American Citizen in 2014 because of his contributions to this great nation. ....let us...
ย ย ย Read moreWhen I went, it was cold and windy, but the reason for my low review is bc there was not sufficient security or police presence. Upon leaving, there were 4 vehicles that apprehended a disheveled looking woman on the sidewalk. It would have been nice to have had at least 2 officers on foot patrolling the beach. Upon leaving, a strange woman began following my small child and I up the stairs. When I offered her to go around us, she declined. [This was on 4/20 and she was a short Hispanic woman wearing a purple sleeveless shirt. She had on denim pants w.2 iphones in each back pocket. She had shoulder length dark hair. I am including this info bc it could potentially save a life.] She gave me predatory trafficker vibes. Once she got to the top of the stairs, she immediately made a phone call and paused to see which way we were going. We initially went right, and she turned in that direction. When I realized we parked to the left, she stayed put as we walked past her. Then she started swinging her arms around as if to imitate stretching them, but it immediately made me think she was signaling to someone. I quickly got my son in the car and locked it, and not long after, she just walked off looking frustrated. Please always be aware of your surroundings in public places, no matter the time of day. Outside of this eerie moment, we had...
ย ย ย Read moreI love to visit here because of how laid back and friendly the overall vibe and people are. There is always something to do and there are no high-rises blocking out the sun. Although it can be great family entertainment, I tend to stay away from the touristy stuff because I've been coming here for decades and have already been through it all a long time ago. I like to come here to the out-of-the-way places and just chill while listening to the tide roll in and out. Go to Woody's for a beer, meet good people and have a fine time. And for all the people saying the water is dirty, it is not so much "dirty" as it is silty. Try swimming on the east coast and bumping into medical waste and such. That is not the case in Galveston at all. (Just don't wear a white swimsuit because with all the fine minerals in the water, it will likely come out yellow when all is said and done.)
Galveston is just a little place that people come to get away all times of the year. And that's all it needs to be. If you want Miami, go to Miami. This barrier island has a great history, great architecture, amazing food and awesome nightlife. Let the place be what it is and there's no way you...
