Galveston Crab Fishing Guide π¦ | Quick Tips & Experience
Went crabbing with friends last weekend! Hereβs what we learned β the sunrise was more rewarding than the crabs π π π What we brought: Cooler, ice, net, fishing line, chicken legs π A one-day all-water fishing certificate from Walmart ($11) π What to wear: Old clothes and shoes you donβt mind getting dirty Non-slip shoes are a must (rocks are slippery!) I wore short rain boots, but my feet hurt after walking too much π¬ π Location: We stayed overnight on Galveston Island ποΈ (though hotels are pricey and outdated β next time weβll stay in League City, just 10+ minutes away πΈ). The next morning, we took the Galveston Ferry β΄οΈ to 802 17th Street β a rocky pier perfect for crabbing! β° Timing tip: We thought early birds get the wormsβ¦ but the crabs were more active after sunrise! βοΈ Still, the sunrise was absolutely stunning and made the lack of sleep worth it π π£ How we did it: Tie chicken legs to the line and throw it in the water Wait patiently π¦β¦ slowly pull the line toward the shore once a crab bites Use a net to scoop it up β be sneaky! Theyβre smart and hide in the mud if they sense danger π§ Pro tip: Bring a cooler with ice β the crabs will βfall asleepβ quickly once placed inside βοΈ We only caught 3 crabs with 5 people β maybe it was the season or tide π β but we still had a blast! The only downside was how tired we were after π΄ #HoustonDayTrip #Galveston #CrabFishing #SunriseLovers #TexasGulfCoast #OutdoorFun #FishingTips
