🌊 Weekend Getaway from Houston – Let’s Go to Corpus Christi! 🏖️
Just a 3-hour drive from Houston, Corpus Christi offers clearer water and nicer beaches than Galveston! 👨👩👧👦 It’s perfect for a relaxing, low-key family trip—think ocean breezes, sunbathing, sand play, and pure bliss. 😌 We also visited the Lexington Aircraft Carrier 🛳️, the aquarium, and a water park. It’s been years since I’ve swum in the sea—had so much fun and got nicely tanned! ☀️ We left at noon on Friday and stopped at Buc-ee’s on the way for beach gear 🛍️. The photos by the sea turned out amazing! I’ll always love Buc-ee’s 😍. On the way back Sunday, we tried “The Texan,” kinda like a Buc-ee’s copycat—had a decent lunch there. 🍔 We stayed at Holiday Inn Beachfront 🏨—right on a public beach! Not as clean as Mustang Island or Padre, but being steps from the ocean was super convenient. Waking up to sunrise and strolling on the sand at night 🌙 was magical! Note: Rooms are humid being so close to the water—keep the AC running low to avoid moisture. Next time, we’ll book a place with a kitchen 🍳 and buy fresh seafood from the pier! 🦞 Saturday morning, we toured the USS Lexington. Found a $1-off coupon on their website (swipe 👆 for pic)—saved a buck where we could! 💸 That afternoon, we drove to Mustang Island 🚗, but the state park was full 🚫. So we went 2 miles further to Access Road 2 Beach instead—drove right onto the sand! Free beach day! 🎉 No showers there though, so we had to shake off the sand back at the hotel. We tried two highly-recommended oyster spots: 🦪 Water Street Oyster Bar: Fresh and delicious raw oysters! Their horseradish dipping sauce was amazing. Went during happy hour (3-5 PM)—half-price oysters! Had a dozen, then another half. 🦪 Black Diamond Oyster Co.: A rustic seafood shack on the way to Mustang Island. Didn’t try raw here but loved their grilled oyster trio! 🔥 Perfect beach vibes, great food, and no agenda—just sun, sand, and smiles 😊. #HoustonWeekend #CorpusChristi #BeachVibes #SummerGetaway #HoustonDayTrips
