I went to this shop after Cash America on Highway 21 in Garden City refused to sell me a Sccy CPX-2 compact pistol without a pistol permit. I didn't argue with the clerk I just thanked them for their time and walked out with my mind on Dean Forest Road Guns and Ammo. I had never been in the store but I had heard their ads on 106.1 and figured I would try my luck with them. When first pulling into the parking lot, the store doesn't seem like much. Don't let that fool you! Once inside you get this easy atmosphere and a nice selection of firearms and goods you may need for your range day and weapon upkeep. The first clerk I encountered was named Doug. This man was warm, friendly and hilarious. He always had a quick quip and would keep a smile on your face.
They also have their pet dog in the shop and she is an absolute cutie pie! Anyway, I explained my situation and he laughed at what the clerk told me at Cash America. He clarified that no permit is needed in the state of Georgia to purchase a firearm, only when you are wanting to conceal said firearm. I told him I had about $1,600 to play with and we talked a bit, that's when I laid my eyes on a beautiful 1911 in the case I was leaning on. The manufacturer was called "Tisas" and at first I didn't remember the name until he informed me that it was a Turkish arms maker. That's when I immediately remembered a video on YouTube by Hickok45 where he reviewed that very same 1911. Long story short, I purchased it and ended up spending a really nice chunk of change on cleaning accessories, a range bag and Wilson Combat magazines because why not?
Doug, I don't know if you're going to read this, but thank you so much for how helpful and honest you were with me about everything. I am looking forward to my next purchases from you, which I hope will be a Maverick Model 88 12 ga and a Sccy CPX-2. Reader, if you made it his far, thank you for hearing my tale. I highly...
Read moreI WAS a repeat buyer with Dean Forest Gun and Ammo, that was until last week. My experience there has changed my opinion of that place and I will no longer do business there. I am not even sure if they read this however maybe it will help someone to not have to go through the same troubles I did.
For starters, I had ordered a Glock 26 Gen 4 with the LEO discount back in March 2012. I understood at that time that I would have a little wait about 3-5 weeks. After 5 weeks I hadn't heard anything so I called to check with no information. I called about every two weeks until last week, which was week 14. When I called I was told that my gun wasn't it and that there was no idea of when it would be. Fine. I asked questions as to what could be taking so long and I was talking to Jim that owner. He was very short and rude, telling me to just come and get my deposit and buy the gun elsewhere. During economic times like this you would think that he would want all the business that he could get but I guess not. I told him that was not the reason for my call and that I just would like something a little more concrete. With this i felt that I was important as a customer so I did take my business elsewhere. I called Patricks and Joe order the same gun, had it the next day and now I carry it with me.
When I went to get my deposit, Jim was standing there with my receipt and a check but when I couldn't produce my copy of the receipt he said he shouldn't give it to me. Did I mention that I was a repeat buyer, he knows how I am, and he had the original receipt? He finally shut his pie hole and gave me the check, but only after he made me wait 45 minutes.
I will never buy from them again, even it if means I have...
Read moreI purchased a gun from Dean Forest Road Guns and Ammo for my husband. It was his Christmas present. When I purchased the gun, Hank and Steve were extremely helpful. However, the first time the gun was used, it jammed - the very first time. We took it back and asked for a refund or to trade it for a gun that works. We were told no. Then we asked that they repair the gun. We were told no. They proceeded to tell us that we would have to send it back to the manufacturer - that they have absolutely nothing to do with repairing guns. When we said that they should back their products and help with the problem, they said that once the gun is purchased, it's no longer their problem. Wow. Horrible, horrible customer service. Oh yeah, to top it off, my friend bought the same exact gun for her husband and it also jammed the very first time it was used. When they tried to return the gun, they were treated exactly the same. Do not ever, ever purchase anything from...
