2023 review

I am giving an update for a previous review. This summer my grandchildren and I visited the pool during the 2023 swim season. These were the improvements that I noticed from last year. Ropes to section deeper depths of the pool were added as a safety feature . That was an improvement. The lifeguards seemed to be more attentive this year. Also, there were not children eating in the pool. I can see an effort to make the pool a better place. Thank you for the effort.. keep up the good work.

2022 review

I have taken my grandchildren to the Gas City Pool throughout the years. They looked forward to going and I would swim with them; however, this year was not the same as in the past. The pool floor was dirty around the edges of the pool, there was debris floating in the pool. The lifeguards were oblivious to someone eating out of a big bag of potato chips while in the pool. Someone was washing their shoes off in the pool.. etc. We stopped at the bathroom on the way out and it was very dirty. The floors needed cleaning, mildew on the shower curtains that were used as doors for the toilets, the trash liner was pushed down with feminine products sticking to the sides. My grandchildren enjoyed going to the pool in the past. We will not be back until those issues have...

Let me start by saying that this place is staffed almost entirely by kids that don't appear to be old enough to buy a pack of cigarettes. And I guess that's fine but no one seemed very friendly aside from the ladies working the concession stand (one of which did look a little older than the rest, I assumed she was in charge).

The pool was OK. My mom thought it was cold, but my kids and I didn't mind at all. I did notice some wear and tear on the pool where moss was growing and the one of the ladders seemed slick and a bit unstable.

Mostly I was appalled by the bathrooms! So SO gross. Used feminine products laying in the showers, worn wooden toilet seats with water damage, water leaking out of everything including, at the very least, the sinks drain as well as spout. Why bother to wash your hands if what you're trying to wash away is going to just splash back up onto you from the floor? Nevermind whatever you're walking through that's leaked out of the toilet stalls. Nasty cloth curtain doors with God knows what's on them. I may go back sometime and stay for a short amount of time and skip the bathrooms entirely but I don't know if I can stomach swimming with others who are dragging that nasty out with them, chemicals to sanitize the...

Run by kiddos with a work ethic to match. Absolutely squalid facilities. Lots of great childhood memories dashed to bits in the trash heap they maintain now.

Ask the neighbors to use their pool. Get some water balloons. Break out the slip and slide. Suffer through the heat. Doesn't matter. Just don't bother going here.

If the city can't maintain their pool, they need to just close it and either sell it, or bulldoze it for...
