The last time I bowled competitively was when I was on the Juniors Bowler’s Tour at the age of 15, I’m now 35. After a 20-year hiatus, I recently returned to the sport. I purchased all new equipment from another Pro Shop & started practicing. After getting my swing back, I started experiencing a lot of hand, wrist, forearm & elbow pain. At first I thought it was just the fact of getting older as the pain always returned after bowling & lasted about a week. This is when I found Matt & Chuck at Bowling Solutions in Gastonia, NC. I knew within a few minutes of speaking with Matt, I was going to be a customer. Matt immediately started to look into my problem & found my thumb to be pitched 5/8” under my palm. Seeing this shocked me, even I knew this was bad. Matt told me this is the likely cause for the pain you are experiencing. He also suggested shortening my span on my middle finger & to only make changes to one ball prior to fixing the rest in my bag. Matt & Chuck got me all dialed in. Since then, all of my original equipment has been repaired & new equipment has & will only be drilled here from now on. I’ve bowled many games since then, I’m averaging higher, revs are up & most of all, I’m pain free! Do yourself a favor & take it from me… KNOW WHO YOUR PRO SHOP OPERATOR IS! Go see Matt & Chuck at Bowling Solutions in Gastonia. The amount of knowledge they have for the sport is priceless. I guarantee you’ll become a life long customer & friend...
Read moreHuge shoutout to Matt for helping me on a crunched time schedule since I am back and forth between home and college. After taking a break from bowling for 4 years I was due for a span check. Turns out my span has changed and I can feel a big difference. Matt was able to plug the finger holes and redrill them on three of my old balls in addition to drilling two new balls for me (Storm Phaze III and a Purple Hammer). He also put a few of my older balls into their rejuvenator, which takes trapped oil and dirt out of the bowling ball for like new performance. Definitely stop by Bowling Solutions Gastonia where either Matthew Willborn or Chuck Gardner II will treat you right and can offer lessons if needed. I will mention I have been going to this pro shop since they opened (probably around 2010 or sooner) and bowled on their travel team around 5 years ago. I have never been disappointed, and they are open to share a wealth of knowledge. They are definitely worth a drive too even if you are not local to the Gastonia area. I don't trust my equipment with...
Read moreI went to see Matt about repairing my 2 existing bowling balls and inquire about purchasing a new ball. I went there on the recommendation of someone I bowled against in the league that I am in. It was a hour drive to his shop. It was so worth it. I could not have asked him to be more helpful. He repaired my balls in time for me to use on league night. Also he watched me bowl with my existing equipment . He asked me what I was looking for in a new ball and helped me pick out the ball that was the best for me. He change my grip and finger span from what my other balls were. The new ball fits my hand so much better. I love my new ball and how it feels on my hand. He drilled it right on the spot and let me bowl with it before I left. I would recommend him to everyone who needs help with their...
