So February 20th, 4 days ago, my car broke, and I wrecked. The man in the other vehicle called the local pd, and they called Sawyers. When the guy got there, he didn't say a word to me. He linked up the car and pealed off. The officers were very nice to my fiancé and myself, but no one let us decide where it was being towed. They asked me once while I was calling my mom, but enough of the wreck.
The car was towed 6 miles, and I set up the appointment today at 10am, which I shouldn't have had to do, it's my property and they shouldn't have been able to prevent me from getting my car as long as I'm there within their hours of operation. (9am to 5pm, btw.)
My fiancé and I showed up at 10:10 AM (we don't live in NC), and my appointment was at 10 AM. No one was there. No one came out to the gate. My fiancé had to call the number to get an answer from a very pushy lady who told him that the truck went up to some place 2-3 hours away and wouldn't be back till 3 pm. My fiancé and I left and waited till 3pm. we were there at 2:45, 15 minutes before the appointment, the truck never showed.
A lady (the same one that answered the phone) pulled up in a silver Tahoe, blocks the gate, and I had to walk up to her for her to let us in and see my car to grab my valuables.
Immediately, she asked for my license and registration, no greeting, no come into the office, and fill out this paperwork, nothing. She just disappeared inside and came back out, wanting me to sign a paper saying I came to get my stuff out of my car. Again, she was pushy and wouldn't answer questions. She was watching us like we were doing something wrong. She kept asking if I was done and was trying to get us to leave quickly.
I asked her if they would junk the car, and she said no, so I would get nothing for the value of my car, then she hit me with a 375 dollar towing fee for a tow I never even called. The cops called them. If asked, I would have had my insurance tow it somewhere else, but she said it was the towing fee (for only 6 miles?) and a storage fee (for only three days?). She also told us they apparently don't scrap cars. The only thing she said was that we couldn't unbolt or disconnect any wires or anything from the car, and again, she was watching us like a hawk and pushing us to leave soon.
I finally had enough double checked the car, and we left the second we were out of the gate she got in her car and peeled out before I could even walk over to my fiancé's car.
So here's the real kicker their plan pretty much was to steal my car and scrap it. They charged us a fee that we never agreed to, they wouldn't let us call another tow company, and again the actual tow truck never showed up at the lot with the car it was apparently towing during my first appointment; which I find weird, personally. My guess is that they're planning on scrapping the car on their own and pocketing the cash.
If you've had a good experience with them, good for you, but this is my own experience. They were rude, pushy, and short with us. I also caught her in a lie because almost every tow yard will scrap a car and give you the cash of what it's worth (deducting the tow fee).
Please don't fall for this shit. If you get into a wreck in Gastonia, call anyone but Sawyers. Worst business I've ever fucking seen.
Btw, that tow truck that "was on a call" when my first appointment was, never showed up. There's one entrance to the yard, he never showed.
One more thing. If anyone from Sawyers sees this and wants to do the right thing the car is worth 1800 when sold for scrap so if you scrap the car and deduct 400 for the fees then mail me a check for the rest I'll call it even and I won't take you to court.
Otherwise, I'll be...

My car was towed here. When I called, a woman told me it would be âabout $180 plus a small storage fee Im on vacation so I'll get back to you.â Total lie to get me there.
When I showed up, the man at the front demanded $450 for just two days of storage. I told him what I was quoted, and he scribbled random numbers on a piece of paper to justify it. He wouldnt specify at all what the charges were.
When I called the woman back to explain her original pricing to the man (who I found out is the owner but he pretended not to be) she started screaming and denying what she had said. She then admitted to that price but she said the price changed and there are more charges. Again, couldnt get either of them to explain simply why. I told them both this was unprofessional, and the man PHYSICALLY threatened me, getting in my face, ready to fight me for simply calling out their scam. To be clear, never once did I raise my voice, over argue, or act out in any sort of way to justify this reaction. Simply, they were upset that I was wanting explanations to charges and and explanations as to why I was quoted one price and then my next price was more than double.
Turns out, the woman and the man are MARRIED. I found this out because he said i disrespected his wife over the phone by calling her unprofessional and he got more upset. They are working together to rip people off while pretending not to know each other. Itâs a con: they quote low, trap your car, then demand triple the price and will threaten you if you push back. After I made both of them mad they were looking for some BS reason to further keep my vehicle and I threatened to call the police at this point the man suddenly lowered the price and let it leave.
Avoid this place at all costs. They are dishonest, aggressive, and will not hesitate to escalate to threats if you...
Read moreMy car was towed here after being totaled by another driver. The tow truck driver took off with my car without asking if I needed a single thing (including my house keys!). I called their office and told them they took off with my house keys and they told me that it wasnât their responsibility and that I had to come to THEM (them knowing I was on my way to the HOSPITAL). I had to have a coworker go by and get my keys from them. A week later, I call the office and tell them I need to get the rest of my belongings out of the car and tell them I am not signing the car over to insurance yet. They sent someone out and I had to wait OVER AN HOUR longer than they said. Finally, a morbidly obese blonde man shows up and demands I sign insurance forms I already told their office I wasnât prepared to sign yet. He then locks the gate up and holds MY belongings hostage. I had to call the sheriff out just to get my own property out of the car! This place is ran by absolute scum who will literally lie, cheat, and steal from you. DO NOT LET SAWYERâS TOWING ANYWHERE NEAR...
