This place hasn't been cleaned in a while. Seems like all they do is lightly dust mop. There was spider webs everywhere and dust and dirty pretty much everywhere you had to make a slight effort to get to. The Jacuzzi tubs had a funky film inside. I turned on the jets and dirt and hair came out. We didn't even think about getting in the hot tub.l. The sink faucet handle fell off and the owner said it was fine when you got there, what did you do to it. You really need to take your own pots, pans, knives, cooking utensils, coffee pot, oven mitts, grilling supplies, cutting board and Tupperware. I left a new pair of tongs and grill brush for the next guy that rents. For a place that has been there several years, you'd think people would have left stuff like that there. That tells me they didn't have a great experience either. We emailed and called the owner but they were out of town. There was no staff in the area at all. Don't go there if you have a crappy car. It won't make it up the hills. It would be a great place of it was cleaned properly. It's really convenient to both downtown Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. The site leaves out a few things. I'll try to add a little, maybe it'll help the owners. The two bedrooms are down stairs. The rest of the house is upstairs. There's a half bath upstairs. Both bedrooms have full bathrooms with a big shower and Jacuzzi. There's plenty of outlets. The WiFi is good through out the house. The futon is broke and uncomfortable. The grill is charcoal. The grill was replaced while we were there so it's new as of April 2015. The porches are big with a good view. It's a gated community. The king size beds are very comfortable with nice sheets. The bath towels were nice and thick and big. There is a nice washer and dryer. The dish washer worked only ok. I personally don't like the flat top stove, they suck in my opinion. It's definitely not a cabin, they call it a chalet. None of the bedrooms or bathroom doors have locks. There's plenty of plates and coffee cups. There is a blender, toaster, toaster oven and electric can opener. Allegedly, there's bears that frequent the area but we didn't see any. I know this review is all over the place but I just want people to know what to bring if they stay there and say the things the...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Outback Rentals & Resort for an extended weekend with my family. We stayed in the Wallaby and while I admit the cabin is beautiful, I was all around disappointed in the Outback. We arrived Friday night and the place didn't look to be cleaned and bugs were everywhere. Ladybugs were all over the floors and we had to wear shoes at all times not to step on them with bare feet. There was a sign in the cabin regarding the ladybugs infestation, but that is not the only bugs we had. We looked through the cabin to find wasps, huge crickets and spiders were in the tub, sink and corners of rooms. I immediately called the office. They left me a voice mail the next morning informing me they had an exterminator come earlier in the week and the bugs were dying around the cabin because of that. They said they would send someone to clean it up if I just left the key in the security box. We tried to leave a key in the security box, but could not get it to work. So we were going to leave it at the gate office. I went to the gate office to find no one on staff during “office hours” and the sign said open. I called the office line and no one answered. So I waited 30 minutes and still no one showed up. I left them another voice mail explaining the situation and no one returned my call. The cleaning crew left a note on my door saying they could not come in and clean without the key. Would you not think the resort would have a spare they could give to the cleaning crew? Well I guess if they don’t plan on actually being on-site and working office hours then it would be our responsibility to let the cleaning crew in….Needless to say I was thoroughly disappointed to sleep in a dirty, bug infested cabin again. Office staff never reached out to me and we checked out on Monday. I will not be returning to the Outback Resort and Rentals and would tell you to save your money. There are resorts with cleaner cabins and better customer service...
Read moreWhen we booked through outback rentals there website wasnt displaying the days available correctly so when we called the representative who assist us and was very helpful. She helped us find a cabin during the time we were going and made accommodationsure for our dog. We ended up booking and staying at the kangaroo cabin which had enough rooms for the 2 adults and 3 teenagers we had. The cabin was nice and clean but some of the furniture was really weathered and used and the dart board had no tips so it was unusable. The beds were noisy and there were bats in the attic which we didn't hear until the second night but made us a little worried. The view was very very nice but because of the high hill we didn't have a lot of accessible grass for our dog so she relaxed on the deck a lot. The resort as a whole was a little lacking. We have never rented a cabin and never been to Gatlinburg but the grounds seemed to be under a lot of construction with a lot of new cabins going in. The pool was closed and we had to drive 15 minutes to a different location to use a pool which was challenging to find because they couldn't provide an address. Unfortunately, I have never stayed at a cabin to compare it to but I think this place has some room to improve. We did like the location in the woods but there was a lot of contruction going on. I also think for the price they could have corrected the fine details before we got there (missing dart tips, no shampoo was provided, furniture was really weathered, pool was closed, some lights weren't working, fireplace wasn't working) that could have made our stay more enjoyable. We still enjoyed our stay for the most part but i think in several years this place will be better and these are just a few things to...
