Cherokee Travel Plaza — Local services in Geary

I stopped here to take a little break and grab some food. They have quite a bit of parking so was easy to find a spot. I was super bummed that I got there a tad late so the restaurant and trading post was closing. I ordered a pizza and the lady working seemed nice and took my order. I was looking at knives and asked to see one. The guy let me look at one but just didn’t seem to care if bought anything or not. I get it, working at a travel plaza isn’t an overly glamorous job but I probably would have bought a knife if the guy was a bit more customer oriented. Even when I paid for my pizza he didn’t even say a word to me. I actually bought a very expensive knife up the road at Knife City… I’m just saying that I’m sure this place gets a lot of traffic and not having a good attitude could potentially be bad for business. Love the renovated building, more light and not as crowded with merchandise. Restrooms were clean and better in accessibility from previous location in the old building. Love the style chosen and the more open floor space for easier assess in aisles to all merchandise. Food options were a Subway, hot deli of different styles of hot dogs, taquito type food or cold food in refrigerator section. On premises is a full restaurant with regular fare for food, hamburgers, chicken, steak, bison, option of side orders fries, onion rings, other vegetables, salads with the standard chioces of drinks. Update: They have revamped things in here for the better!! Food is plentiful and staff is always hard at work. Great Job!! Moving from 1 star to 4. Only 4 because it is a little pricey but what isn’t these days.

The subway is currently under construction for several weeks now. I work in the area and frequent this location. I am very disappointed that at 11 a.m. they do not have out any hot food.
