The Swamp Paintball Park — Local services in Gloucester Point

We just got back from having our son’s 9th birthday party at The Swamp. It’s difficult to find fun party ideas for a November birthday. I thought we had pretty much done it all as far as parties go, but this one definitely topped them all!!! The kids (and adults 🤣) had SO much fun. The owner Greg, Referee Rob, Jenna, and the rest of the staff went ABOVE & BEYOND to make sure our party was great. We had our own pavilion with picnic tables and brought our own cake/pizza. They offer birthday packages that include cake, pizza, and play. They even have grills you can use which I thought was super cool. I love that it was so laid back and not so many rules when it comes to having a birthday party, you don’t find that often. You also don’t find business owners like Greg who truly want you to have a great experience. If you haven’t checked out The Swamp or had a party there, I highly recommend it. Our group played Airsoft but they also have paintball and ORBEEZ 😯 for the little ones! They offer discounts for first responders, nurses, military, shipyard, boys/girl scouts, etc. We are already planning our next visit! 👏🏼

Really not that impressed. It's a big open well prepared field with a potential. Positive ends there. We did a large event with fifty people and showed up at 7:30am before they open because the owner said we could get started earlier. Instead we stood around in the rain until 10:30 for them to get their act together. They didn't even take payment or process waivers until 9:00. Once we started half the markers had issues. They clearly weren't checked before given out. Batteries were dead on force feeders, air tanks were empty, etc. During the first match I told a referee half our markers were down and he told me "this is a game of patience, you can still help out your teammates with communication". Now some background. I'm a 20 year Marine Corps infantry officer. The group was from our Regiment of Security Forces. What I needed from this 22yo referee was for him to fix the problem, not attempt to give me tactical advice. I paid to play paintball. If the owner hadn't held us in the rain talking for 15 minutes about how much he takes care of the military and veterans, it wouldn't have annoyed me as much. Good field, helpful refs. Have nice equipment fair price but can spend A LOT of money here for two or more people, which is okay for all day entertainment. The only negative is that the games are not structured or scheduled. For example we played 10 min games and had sometimes 30 min breaks 45 min breaks 5 minute breaks instead of being on a good schedule so it made it so we did not get to play as many games as we wanted to, we actually sat around in holding area more than we played. I would think the owner would make sure the breaks are 10_15 min max because if they were we would have had to spend a lot more money on paint instead of doing more sitting than putting paint down range. Other than that good place to have fun or (sit around in confusion wondering why there's no paint being put down range for sometimes...
