Tuna Hunter Fishing Charters — Local services in Gloucester

My wife and I had a great start of a day on October 24 2020, with Gary and Ben, the Tuna Hunter Captain and Mate. Around 8:20 am, we hooked to an amazing Bluefin Tuna. After reeling it in and getting excited for our great fortune, Gary decided on his own, and without consulting us, to release this catch back to the ocean. He first tagged it and then released it. This Tuna was according to Gary, at least, 80 inches and about 350 lbs. Gary never asked me if I want to keep this fish before releasing it. For sure I wanted to keep this Fish and he knows that very well. I have emails from him saying that he will have to sell any BlueFin Tuna we catch above 73 inches and keep, for me to take home, any Bluefin Tuna below 73.

The agreement was that if we catch anything above 73 inches that he sells it and give me 20% of the proceeds if the amount is more than $1,450.00. The $1,450.00 is what I agreed to pay him for the 9 hours on his boat.

My wife and I felt cheated by Gary and were really upset by how he didn't honor his agreement with us. We shared the story with our friends who said that they are very disappointed from the Tuna Hunter Captain Gary for what he did to us.

We have been dreaming about going Bluefin Tuna fishing for many months and were very excited to catch one during this trip.

The Mate, Ben, was great in dealing with us and was very helpful. We gave him 20% tip for his genuine help and direction while we were on the boat.

Also be aware that Gary will charge you 4% on top of the $1,450.00, if you use credit card to pay for the trip. Was he thinking that we will bring him cash or check?!

We hoped for a long term relationship with the Tuna Hunter Captain and to make this an annual event for my wife and I. Unfortunately, we will not give Gary more business as he was not upfront with us and cheated us...

Another absolutely Outstanding Charter with Tuna Hunter Charters!!!, We were on a full day Haddock trip, Non stop action, We limited out on Haddock, Catch and released a bunch of Cod (Season Closed), Ling Cod and a few short Haddock, We also put out a Rod for Tuna while this was all happening and did pick up a Big Porbeagle Shark, pretty incredible the Power of these Fish!, Mate Tim was an absolute Gentleman and Professional mate, did everything He could to make a Fantastic Trip even better for Us. You cannot go Wrong with Tuna Hunter Charters!!!, Captain Gary Cannell is One of or if not the Best Charter Captain’s on the Northeast Coast!!!, Thank You again Gary and Tim for another Great...
