I was a bit hesitant about going to this store after reading some of the reviews but after my 1st experience yesterday I'm glad I did.
I arrived at the store about 30 minutes before they opened and there was approximately 25 people in front of me to get in. By the time the store opened there was probably over a 100 people behind me. If you are in no rush to purchase furniture and want to casually browse the store I recommend going on a Sunday afternoon.
The staff is really friendly but remember there are a lot of people in the store that need help so if you want a personalized experience and take your time I recommend going to a department store. If you know what you want and you are capable of making up your mind quickly you will love this place. Especially if you're looking at buying room and board furniture specifically.
I will say the most desirable items sell quickly on Saturday morning but if you go on a Sunday you can get a feel what the store is all about and very well could still find nice stuff. Good news is they restock the inventory for each weekend. I heard they also restock some stuff for Sunday but I'm not sure if that's true.
I was able to buy a couch and dining room table for a total savings of over $2300. I wanted an accent chair but by the time I picked my couch and table all the best ones were sold. Both items were still on the room and board website so I was able to verify the original retail price( even though it's on the tag) as well as other details about each item I was purchasing. Both items were in excellent condition. I found that most of the items there are in very good shape but some of the stuff does have some noticeable damage.
Be sure you look over each item very carefully as all sales are final. Bring a measuring tape! I've seen people selling stuff they just purchased at the outlet store on Facebook market place because it doesn't fit in their house.
The people complaining that the stores pricing is still too high should try wayfair or ikea.. Are some of the items still expensive? Yes it's room and board. Can you find some high quality furniture with huge saving?Absolutely!
Lastly I recommend you bring a friend or family member to help you hold items. if you walk away from something it could sell...
Read morePro: great deals on quality furniture with minor imperfections (at most). The staff is awesome!
Cons: only open on the weekends, the line to get in gets long, but it generally moves fast. Once inside, it can be a bit chaotic.
We've been here 4 or 5 times, and purchased over a dozen items.
This is an outlet for customer returns, floor models, and/or discontinued items, so you never know what you are going to find. All the inventory is in very good shape, though. Some items have easily spotted minor imperfections, but most look brand new and in perfect condition to me.
They are only open on the weekend, and people start to line up 30 or 40 minutes before the doors open. The line gets long, but moves a lot faster than you'd expect. Once, I was as at the end of the longest line I've seen there, and I waited about 30 minutes before I was in the door.
Once you're inside, it's a bit hectic. Lots of people scrambling to look through the inventory. Once you find something you want, you flag down an employee who marks the item as sold, and gives you a tag to take to the register.
The staff is fantastic. Very helpful and friendly. They do a great job managing the chaos. Without such a high quality staff, the place would be anarchy. Can't praise them enough.
Once you've made a purchase, you can choose to have your items delivered (for a flat fee), have the staff load your items into your vehicle for you, or load them yourself. We have used all 3 options. Delivery was fantastic. Fair price, delivered within a week of purchase, easy to schedule, delivery crew put our items where we wanted them in our home, just as friendly and respectful as all the other staff. The staff that loads your purchases into your vehicle for you at the store are wizards. Very careful, respectful of your purchase and your vehicle, and must be...
Read moreI have always loved this store and felt it was worth standing in line and going back and forth, taking the chance that you might find something or you might not. We found a custom sectional that fit perfectly after 5 visits there. The delivery team was wonderful but told us that the modular sectional didn't come with connectors like the sales rep told us and there was no way of putting it together. We bought this sectional with the understanding that it could connect. After a few calls (with a great customer service rep), they said they'd figure out a way to connect it and send delivery team out in two weeks to fix. I then noticed that it had animal hair all over it and I didn't notice this when it was on the sales floor at the outlet store. I had to shop vac it, though I still find random pet hair every day on it. It's not the biggest deal but when I buy a $6k couch, I'd expect it not to come with pet hair. Then the delivery guys came to connect the couch and it's now clear why it wasn't made to connect because there are inch gaps in all of the pieces. I wish they would have just given me the discount I asked for and I would have tried to connect it myself. The delivery guys also left it with what looks like a grease or pen mark on it that despite being spot cleaned is still there. The customer service was good and they were committed to help but too many things happened that I wouldn't expect from this level of furniture store. I've always liked Room and Board but I think this is the last...
