Theodore Wirth Regional Park — Attraction in Golden Valley

The park is great, but I'm very disappointed in the staff and loppet foundation that seems to operate it, or at least part of it.

Their website has inaccurate information about the sledding hill and even when I showed it to them they basically said not to trust their website.

All I wanted to do was rent a sled for the sledding hill, but their website said the tubing stuff was closed for the year but the sledding stuff was still open. The website clearly stated you can rent a sled from the chalet. Turns out the chalet is the old building, and the staff at the new building said the sledding hill is bring your own sled. When I showed them the website they just seemed to ignore it with little acknowledgement.

The area is lovely. But the construction as well as the high volume of people and limitation of parking spaces near the Mill Valley Market spot, along with the foot and golf cart traffic from the golf course immediately near the trailhead was a huge impediment. Very little observance of safety protocols in respect to the global pandemic.

There was a band about to perform in a space that was too small to allow safe distancing.

Also, someone was burning cardboard on a grill which made the air very difficult to breathe.

Very little physical distancing, if any. Few masks were being used with a high number of people in a small, congested area.

We left within minutes and we will not return to the area until it is safe to do so, or until others choose to respect the welfare of people in...

Lovely suburban park / recreation area with groomed and groomed trail for cross-country skiing.
