If it let you give no stars I would. I’ve had 3 surgeries at north canyon. This last one was absolutely traumatizing and I wish I would have gone to St.Luke’s. I had a hysterectomy due to endometriosis. Nicolas Packer was my surgeon and completely failed his oath as a surgeon. When I woke up from surgery I was in unbearable pain and my horrid nurse (Mary on medical floor) did nothing to help. I was told I couldn’t have anything for pain because he didn’t write anything for post op pain. I was begging the nurse for help because I could not bear it. I was a CNA for 5 years and I am currently a pharmacy technician so I have a medical background and therefore have more of a understanding of how nurses and doctors see patients and how medications work and what they are. They could tell that I did as well because they asked my husband if I had a medical background. She came in with ketorolac and I asked why I couldn’t have anything stronger through my IV because I already knew that wasn’t going to touch the pain in was in. Nurse Mary said he didn’t write for anything else for post op pain. I was then told that the dr was coming out of another surgery and on his was to see me. I was given an oxycodone and again I asked why I couldn’t have something stronger through my IV for immediate relief rather than wait another hour for the pill to kick in. I was ignored. I told them I was nauseous and again I was ignored. When the DR came in he said that I shouldn’t be in this much pain and that I needed to give the pill time to kick in. I repeatedly told him how much pain I was and how unbearable it was. They took out the catheter that they had placed after my surgery, which I was confused about because I just had a hysterectomy and was told no vaginal insertion for eight weeks and here I wake up with a tube in my bladder..makes sense right? This did little to reduce the pain. He asked if I wanted something else to calm me down and I said yes I would try anything and he gave the nurse an oral order for Xanax, which she then started to argue with him and ask for a written order. Which she forgot to give me. After an hour and a half the Xanax and oxycodone finally kicked in and my pain went from a 10 to an 8. My surgery was at 8am I didn’t leave the hospital till around 7:30 that night. This surgery was a horrific and traumatizing experience. And it did not have to be. Dr. Packer and nurse Mary continued to ignore my pleas for help and dismissed how much pain I...
Read moreWe have been so spoiled in Buhl to have Dr. Nofziger so accessible for so long. He is one of the best doctors I've ever dealt with! Definitely the most caring! His staff has always gone out if their way to take care of his patients! It's a shame that the receptionist for North Canyon isn't as conscientious about customer service as Dr. Dan's in the old office! I recently had an scary episode and called to make an appt. to see Dr. Dan.....he wasn't available for a few days but I made the appt. A couple of days before the appt. I had another episode and thought I had better see someone right away so walked in and saw the NP. Had a couple of tests and sent me home still intending to see Dr. Dan to get his opinion of the test results. Apparently the receptionist assumed because I had seen the NP that I wouldn't still want the appt. with Dr. Dan so she gave the appt. to someone else! Next available a week and a half away!! Great! So I call the next day to talk to one of his nurses and when I ask for her by name the receptionist asks "why do you want to talk to her." I told her it was none of her business.....eventually she takes my number to have Dr. Nofziger or his nurse call me back but never gives anyone the message! Sure don't like this new...
Read moreI am three days post op from a total knee replacement. My experience at North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding was exceptional. Everyone, without exception, was kind, caring, and professional. Dr. Anderton truly listened to my concerns about not wanting to take opiates. He gave me options and continued to reassure me that this was about me. They listen, they take time to explain procedures and alleviate concerns. Today, in the mail, I received a thank you card saying “thank you for entrusting us with your care” signed by several hospital personnel. I have never received that kind of expression from a hospital! I believe a major component to health and healing is love (kindness and caring). I am truly doing great and believe that on a significant level it is due to the care I received. Dr. Anderton is the only physician I have had experience with at the hospital and I truly wish that all doctors were as caring, conscientious, and competent. Well done North Canyon Medical Center! My sister is so impressed with how well I’m doing she has made an appointment with NCMC in May and she is coming from SLC Utah! I wish there were a way to give you 10 stars because I honestly believe you deserve it. Thank you. Cheryl...
