A very cool historic building, Ranger Sarah rocks, and they answered some wildlife questions we had.

BUT, if you’re like us, and enjoy getting to trailheads between 6-7am (so you can beat crowds and experience a quiet forest) and travel out of a van, be prepared to walk into the Longmire Wilderness Information Center after a 6 mile hike (through the beautiful Rampart Ridge Trail) and have the young male Ranger with dark hair accuse you of sleeping in your van in the parking lot (even though you were sleeping at the paid Cougar Rock Campground down the road). apparently it’s unheard of to park your vehicle at the trailhead before the ranger station opens, so when they arrive to work, they’re left to assume your vehicle has been there the whole night. a truly bizarre assumption coming from a backcountry ranger, which left a poor impression of our otherwise absolutely phenomenal and awe inspiring week at the most spectacular National Park (of the 27 we’ve...

Mount Rainier National Park Is filled with stunning vistas and beautiful hikes. These are the stops I’d suggest for one day in the national park with kids: Reflection Lakes Paradise Recreation Area – Skyline Trail Narada Falls Christine Falls Longmire Recreation Area – Trail of the Shadows We’d also suggest staying at Altimeter Cabin’s Sherpa Cabin. It’s is absolutely adorable and it couldn’t be more peaceful. @altimetercabin @mountrainiernps @traveltacoma #mountrainier #mountrainiernationalpark #mountrainiernps #traveltacoma #familytravel #nationalparks #bucketlist #bucketlisttravel

Visited Friday, June 14, 2024. Tall fir trees. Wish I had more time to visit. No snow down here, pretty crowded (it was on our way back to Seattle) but if you go towards Paradise, still plenty of snow.
