I really like this farm stand and it's been here since I can remember. The thing to know is if you like whoopies pies, these are the real deal, traditional Maine Whoopie Pies. These pies have excellent cookies just the right consistency and the traditional taste I remember. The filling is again excellent, nice and light and fluffy and not to sweet or to bland. The cook here really knows the Real Maine Whoopies and not grocery store type wannabes! If you don't know what they are, they are chocolate cake type cookies about 4" in diameter sandwiched with a light fluffy white vanilla filling. They also have another Maine staple being the Needham! They are found all over in stands and little stores. I got the last one here just now, they are sold out. They will restock. My wife loves them but I have never tried one yet. The Needham is coconut and mashed type potato mixed with other ingredients and dipped in a dark chocolate about 2" square. If you like coconut you will probably love them. The stand has expanded adding another room that has local meats, milk, butter fresh off the farm veggies and more too much to list. It is worth a trip if your in the area visiting or live here like me. There are also plants and in the fall, pumpkins and that sort of thing from the farm. The stand usually has a couple nice young girls to help and get you checked out. I did notice they have some hot soups and other dishes. During this time of Covid, masks are required.
Update: They also have absolutely huge soft ginger cookies that are amazing! And I got to mention the corn, it's just nice and sweet and fresh. You've seen the corn in box stores right? They look like they've been in a war and all dried out and brown husks? These are nice dark green husks...
Read moreEvery time we are in the area, we stop by Chipman’s farm stand for a few goodies, and it’s always delightful. Given that it’s a farm stand and not the location of an actual farm, we were impressed with the selection. During our last visit, they had everything from fresh flowers and cocktail mixers to baked goods and produce. We’ve tried their cookies, mac and cheese, and produce, and it’s never disappointed. Seriously, their peanut butter cookies are to die for the perfect level of sweetness. Also, their onion relish has become a staple...
