Class A Fitness has changed my life! I was always pretty healthy and fit. For 30 years I mainly was a runner but would do some weight lifting and biking too. At age 52 things started getting very difficult emotionally and physically. My parents were ailing, and I started caring for them. They died within 1 ½ years of each other and following my dadās death I fell apart, literally! At age 54 I had 7 surgeries! I was not in very good shape after all this. My last 2 surgeries were having a screw put in my left foot and a right knee surgery. The Dr knew I wanted to run again and put me through PT to gain muscle where I needed it. He warned me to be careful as he had to scrape a lot under the knee cap and said I was almost bone on bone. As I started a running program, I was having a lot of pain and swelling. I had gained weight, felt out of shape and was unhappy, especially when the Dr. said, āmaybe you should take up biking more!ā
Then one day I saw an ad for Class A Fitness. I remember it said that it didnāt matter what your fitness level was and that they help modify things to fit your situation. So, a month shy of my 55th birthday I joined. Hands Down the Best Decision I Could Have Made!! I have found CAF to be very welcoming, fun, and always different workouts so itās not boring. Everything is class based. We use TRX, Bosu balls, bands, tubes, weights, kettle bells, ropes, tires and sledge hammers to name a few. We do kick boxing, cardio moves and strength training. The instructors are all helpful, motivating and supportive. They help remind you to focus on your form and correct your form when needed, which I have found very helpful and important. CAF feels like a big family. I look forward to seeing everyone! They have Challenges going on from time to time and although I was unsure at first, this past January I joined my first Healthy Habits Challenge and liked it so much that I joined another in May. Amy Krenz, the owner of CAF, has run the challenges and is a wealth of knowledge, not only about fitness, but about mind and body and how they all connect. The challenges have you really looking inside yourself, finding your strengths and motivating you and others. The challenges have helped me really understand food as fuel and how macros are important, especially protein for me because Iāve been a vegetarian since age 15. I always thought I was healthy and getting enough protein, but I felt sluggish while working out and talked to Amy about it. She really helped me look at what I was consuming and has helped me understand more about nutrition. She also showed me an app to help me continue to see and understand first hand how what Iām eating is or is not helping me get to the next level I want. Amy is very positive and real! She can help you get where you want to be if you give her a chance and work hard. I really believe all the information provided in the challenges really helped me want to work harder to improve my fitness level. I can say that now at 56years old I feel in better shape than I have in several years. I would have never believed I could get this far without having running be my main reason for being fit, but since January I lost 13 lbs. but more importantly, I have gained muscle and feel so much better! If you are looking for the next level of fitness for yourself, I can tell you Amy Krenz and the instructors at CAF have helped me form a healthier happier stronger āMeā and I canāt thank Amy enough for all of her time, knowledge and commitment to helping others! I highly recommend CAF to take you to the next step or level of fitness! Itās great for the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIn my almost 2 years at Class A Fitness, I have had TONS of people (friends, family, coworkers, strangers...) ask what makes Class A different from every other gym out there and typically I respond "You really have to experience it to understand..."
Welp, this is my attempt to put the experience into words.
Class A is a place I have laughed, cried, swore, made some really ugly faces, sweat, stunk and ultimately accomplished more then I thought possible of myself. It has fostered confidence, friendships and strength. It has completely changed my lifestyle to something maintainable for ME...but has done the same for so many others.
It is a place where members are accountable...but not by trainers' sales commissions or club growth goals....members are accountable to eachother. Each individual is a part of the working machine that IS Class A Fitness and THAT keeps people coming back.
Never have I experienced a gym where you want to show up because you know others are counting on you for motivation and at the same time, you know that when you are dragging, others around you are able to lift you up and keep you pushing further then you thought possible.
This is a gym where both teachers and members know your name, so many know your story and there is no judgement. All of us are on a journey with individual struggles, motivations and goals---but we have one thing in common---we are all part of a family that supports us without question through our troubles and our amazing transformations.
That is what makes Class...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne year ago I was looking for a gym, with a good location and classes. I found Class A Fitness. Not needing to change anything, assuming all gyms were the same; my goal was to maintain status quo, it was a perk when I found out that classes were only 45 minutes. I have since learned that a high-quality, 45 minutes workout can be extremely effective. The classes here differ, not only from day-to-day of kickboxing, strength training, boot camps, but they offer a detailed variety in the arrangement of exercises within every workout. Each trainer has their own style of teaching, yet all of them are motivating, inspiring and encouraging throughout; giving instructions on form, modification and customization while tailored to all fitness levels doing this without humiliation or intimidation. There is personalized training going on constantly before, during and after classes, incorporating not only exercise, but nutrition, wellness, and goal setting.
When looking at my ātomorrowā, I am pumped because it is Kickboxing Monday! I am energized when I see new and old friends walking in the door because I get to workout next to them. I am secretly excited when I see sweat drops on the floor because they are mine. I am maintaining my new achieved weight because of this I am making new goals, but this time having nothing to do with my weight. I am blessed to have found Amy and her staff of personal trainers, that genuinely care about me every time I walk into...
