Title: CUSTOMER SERVICE Two times in a row Iāve shopped here and didnāt realize that I did not have enough money in my checking account. The same lady who is in register 7, two times in less than two months, I felt anxious, uncomfortable and even felt bad for having to ask her to take a couple of items out! But why should I feel bad to ask her to help me take a couple items because I didnāt have enough money I shouldnāt have to feel bad. Iām a customer and I am not mean or demanding! But for a customer to feel uncomfortable or even feel bad, as a team member at Food Lion you have to have Patience, show humility, compassion and kindness because even if you are having a bad day at work, everybody feels it!!! The Whole country including the World! I have been in customer service now for over 30 years and I have been in every easy hard, stressful also some of the worst jobs in this country! Iām not perfect, but even when I dealt with a difficult customer, I shown my ability to go above and beyond to provide kindness, compassion, understanding, and patience. A customer should never have to feel bad or anxious or even embarrassed if theyāre buying food for themselves alone, or for their family, just because they donāt have enough money! And even if a person looks like theyāre normal and they have money or they have themselves together, but in the inside that person could be going through something! What is even worse about this place what I donāt like is now there are young adults soliciting outside the store which is even more frustrating for me!! They really do have something for everyone, from pantry staples to more gourmet items. I particularly appreciate their commitment to offering fresh produce, and it's a huge bonus to see a good selection of veggies from local farms. It's clear they make an effort to support local agriculture, which is fantastic for both the community and the freshness of the food. The aisles are generally well-stocked, and I can usually find everything on my list without too much hassle.
The staff are typically friendly and helpful, and checkout is usually pretty efficient. However, there's one significant drawback that consistently detracts from the shopping experience: the parking lot. It's, to put it mildly, quite dirty. There's almost always an abundance of trash scattered everywhere ā discarded wrappers, plastic bags, empty cups, you name it. It's a real eyesore and honestly makes the first impression of the store quite negative.
It's a shame because the interior of the store is generally well-maintained, but the parking lot looks like it rarely gets cleaned. If they could address this issue and invest in regular parking lot maintenance, this Food Lion would easily be a 5-star establishment. During a store promotion recently I had to purchase five of an item to get a coupon back. The cashiers are ghetto and un professional carrying on so many outside conversation she rings up four packs of an item bag up five I hand her my coupons which should have paid for my order. The coupon didn't go through because I hadn't spent the full amount I grab something still not realizing cashiers mistake. Until my coupon didn't print, I go to customer service explaining the cashiers error an instead of her acknowledging what happened she jumps down my throat asking me what I'm trying to do an telling me she's on to me an then charges me for the item that would have been much cheaper with the use of my coupon. Then another store manager comes up knowing nothing about what happened and attempts to jump on me the shopper, like he knows me. Glad i stood my ground even though they tried to put me in a corner when they dony want to adhere to there on atore policy and promotion.
