I can't express how thrilled I am with my experience at Beach Bum Outdoors in Gulf Shores, Alabama. From the moment I walked in, the level of expertise and genuine passion for fishing was evident. Having followed Bearded Brad, AnglerUp With Brant, and Bama Beach Bum on YouTube for months, visiting their store was a top priority during my grand travel excursion through Florida in the Badger, our Thor Omni Motor home.

The staff at Beach Bum Outdoors were not only knowledgeable but also incredibly helpful. I had the pleasure of interacting with a gentleman who took the time to understand my fishing goals and tailored his recommendations accordingly. He expertly strung one of my rods with braid and provided valuable insights into using a mono leader. We delved into the intricacies of weights for both surf fishing and casting lures, leaving me well-equipped for saltwater adventures in Florida.

Today we had the fantastic opportunity to fish with a local guide recommended by Beach Bum Outdoors. Our guide, Brandon Knox (business card in the photos), was a tremendously great guide. He came out to our vacation rental house on Thanksgiving morning, and helped us catch fish. And when I say fish, I mean sea monsters! We started off at one spot for our 4 hour trip, and caught a few small fish, like whiting. After an hour or so, Brandon suggested we try another spot down the beach. He set up 6 or so rods(which he brought and baited himself), including a shark rig. Within 10 minutes the shark rig clicked eagerly. We reeled in a monster red fish. Withing a few more minutes we caught our target fish, the great Florida Pompano. Brandon was genuinely excited for us because he knew that's what we were hoping for. Throughout our trip, Brandon was quick to re-bait hooks and cast out into the surf. He even offered to filet our fish for us after our trip. He was extremely knowledgeable and gave us some great tips for fishing coastal Alabama. Prior to our trip, he was very communacative about upcoming weather and fishing conditions. I could not recommend a better guide than Brandon. We appreciate his dedication to his customers and Beach Bum Outdoors for their recommendation. He'll be the first we call next year...

BUYER BEWARE OF THIS STORE!!!!

I would honestly not even give this store a one star! The level of disrespect I experienced was astonishing. I always aim to support local businesses, but this one has completely lost my support. We bought a sail canopy for my 10-month-old granddaughter to provide some shade while at the beach, but when we attempted to set it up, it simply didn’t work. It would not stay up!

When we tried to return it just 4 hours after the original purchase, they refused to issue us a refund or store credit. While there was some sand from the beach, the canopy was in perfect condition—no stains, tears, or any damage whatsoever. We had intended to return to this store to purchase fishing gear for our boys this week, but they’ve lost that sale.

It seems that if you buy anything from this store and try to return it, even on the same day, they will not refund your money if “they” believe it has been “used.” Their policies don’t seem to matter in practice. I really wish I had taken a photo of six grown men struggling to set up this canopy—it simply does not work...
