Found this place by reading Google reviews here like this one... This place was the standout meal for this vacation. It's a local bar for certain, and you can tell that everyone working there has been part of the team that makes this place amazing for a while. It has a vibe that makes you feel welcome, relaxed, and comfortable. The service was on point for a little place that was filled up with folks. The menu is some typical bar fare with serious care put into elevating that to comfort food that makes you want more. We had Buffalo wings, an Antipasto salad, the chili cheese fries, and a plate of the cheesesteak egg rolls. Let me hit the high points for you. The lemon-garlic balsamic vinegarette for the salad was unique and complimented it perfectly. That along with the herb ranch and the buffalo sauce we tried are all made in house. The chili wasn't runny on the fries and it was held together with the cheese sauce. Chili itself was well seasoned and made me want to try the Sloop Dog, but I left stuffed and couldn't have eaten more. The standout was the cheesesteak egg rolls. They come with pickled carrots and pickled red onions, drizzled in a sweet mustard that brings the whole dish together. I get the feeling that the cheesesteak sandwiches here are just as good. I loved the food so much, I bought a round for the kitchen in appreciation for when they close up. Which is something I recommend for anyone who loves their meal. Show the kitchen the love they showed your food. If you are in Gulf Shores, this place is worth a trip. It makes you want to have it in your neighborhood.

In the Gulf Shores area, The Sloop is THE local dive bar. It's that place you go for a game ⚾️🧢🏈, great food, drinks 🍻 and dinner... away from the crazy crowds. We came across it by chance - mostly it was the only place open past 9 pm - and the menu was amazing for late night to-go. You'll love the fun, eclectic decor following a nautical ⛵️ decor with the stickers, pictures, and storied history only a long time favorite could casually showcase. Ultimately, we chose cheesesteaks for our order. Both chicken and steak were amazing. Drinks at the bar were fantastic. 🪂 2025 Drop-in update... Just arrived back in Gulf Shores for the week and stopped by on the way to grab an awesome, easy dinner. This is still the coolest spot. Servers are attentive, fun, and know all the locals by name. Even the owner was amazing. The vibe was still fun, beach easy, with great food and drinks. Definitely go!!!

I went to The Sloop with 6 people. I couldn’t have been happier with all aspects of our visit. I had a Bloody Mary that was pretty impressive. My partner and I both got the steak nachos, which neither he nor I regretted. You know how sometimes you get nachos and the toppings are just piled on top and there is nothing on the bottom chips? Yeah, not these! They were so good. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food. Our servers/bartenders were really cool. They were friendly and fun. We had a great time with them. As far as the establishment, it was everything a dive bar should be. It had such great energy. And bonus, there were police and other first responder patches hanging on the wall. As a group of off-duty police, fire, and EMS from all over the gulf coast region, we appreciated the support that The Sloop displayed. We will absolutely be back!

We were in town for 5 nights, and went here 3 of those nights. We asked a bartender at a big beach restaurant where she likes to go and she immediately said The Sloop. It's worth getting away from the tourist crowds/prices. Inside is a bar and tables, and there is an outside area to sit on the deck, or on beach chairs in a comfortable beach-like setting out back. Bathrooms were immaculate. Some nights there is live music on a cute stage outside. Food was great. I'm from NJ originally, and the cheese steak was on point, as was the meatball sandwich, and the sausage and peppers sandwich. All great! So glad we stopped here. Can be tricky to find the first time, but with Maps you'll be good.

What a great little gem of a restaurant tucked away under Highway 59 on the south side of the Intercoastal Waterway. Great lively & fun atmosphere, mostly locals, which speaks very well for the anticipated quality of the food, and almost everyone, staff & customers, know each other. Our food was outstanding. I had the Italian Sausage & Peppers, and my fishing buddy had the South Foley Cheesesteak & Provolone. The picture of my empty & clean plate 'after' I finished says much for the quality of my meal! The staff were exceedingly articulate, friendly, and helpful. It was a waitress team, including Jane, Jazmine, & a couple of others. Great job all the way around.

This is truly a hidden gem. Under the bridge. 6 ft tall fence around back yard. Unpresuming exterior. Outdoor and indoor seating is intimate and super casual. We walked right in and found a table for our family. The place is filled with locals and for a good reason. The food was fabulous!! They are known for their philly cheesesteak for a reason!! The steak has no fat, prepared perfectly with the right amount of steak seasoning. The owner is from Philly and prepares his sandwiches the way they are supposed to be.. you can even get cheesewiz if you want. Full bar. Our server, Tom, was fabulous. Worth checking out for sure!! So glad we stumbled into this place!!
