Continuous disappointment with their service. I bought a brand new $70k boat there in 2014. Have had problems with the electronics since day 1. I've taken it back in multiple times each year with (for the most part) the same exact problems. They tell me its fixed, I give them a bunch of money, and when I get back "On The Water" I still have the same problems. This spring I took it in again for the same problem areas, and they told me my kicker wouldn't start. They said it was gummed up and needed significant work (Bust Out Another Thousand) even though I've always ran the fuel out of it after running it and never used fuel with ethanol. I've also regularly used Sta-Bil for storage and Seafoam during the summer. I told them whatever it takes. I just want my expensive boat to work properly when I get it out. Next time out I try the kicker to make sure it runs well...it wouldn't start. Back to MW again. They told me they got it started, and that I must not have primed the fuel line well enough. Very frustrating because I know very well how it works and tried multiple times throughout that whole day to get it running. Took the boat up to the UP to troll for walleye with the kicker motor. It started with some difficulty but then ran well for an hour trolling. Turned it off while we took a break from fishing, and when I tried to turn it back on, it now doesn't start again.
I'm done with MW. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Does anyone have recommendations for a good boat service business? My other big problem that MW has failed to fix over the 5 years I've had the boat is my electronics will randomly shut down while out boating/fishing....sometimes repeatedly every 10-20 minutes making it impossible to...
Read moreI went to M-W Marine to buy my first fishing boat ever. Upon entering the store a sales person asked me what I was looking for. I told him and he laughed at me. I simply told him I was looking for either a whaler type boat that could handle waves, or something similar in aluminum. I knew Lund boats had a fairly decent reputation so I went home and did more research. I called several suppliers and in the end it seemed M-W marine had a corner on this market providing cheap prices. And here is where paying a few extra dollars might be worth it. I ordered a boat from Lund through M-W Marine with all the specifications (so I thought). Instead of a black boat with silver trim I received a blue boat with silver trim. When I asked why it was blue, sorry that's what the sales person ordered. After getting the boat I took it to my boat mechanic and he was astounded that their technicians at M-W had not secured the battery correctly, nor had they assembled the trailer correctly. I spent almost $20K on this boat. Maybe MW only cares about those rich people that can spend hundreds of thousands on a fishing boat (that they will never use). I won't be seeing MW at...
Read moreTook my boat in to get a Humminbird Helix 9 mega si, helix 7, and terrova ipilot link installed. Got the boat back in a couple weeks, no big deal. First time out on the lake i could tell there were many mistakes. Horrible interference, locators would shut off when i started my motor and DI didnt work at all. Also i found out my tranducer for mega si was put on the wrong side of the motor and a transducer board wasnt installed so multiple holes in my transom. I was told rework my boat is #1 on the list. Took over 2 weeks to get it back. Now for the next part keep in mind i paid for it to be installed already... I was told i needed to pay for the time it took them to fix what they didnt install correctly?!?!?!?! The owner had to be called over and he said I didnt have to pay for labor but i had to pay for parts. Ok... then i look at the part sheet and im paying for parts that were already installed on my boat... Im sure i just had a bad experience and I would hope this is not typical but for sure wont go back or recommend...
