Food Lion — Local services in Hampton

I just wanted to say that I really appreciate this store. I have a food lion closer to my home but I like this one better, its right by my mother's home and i usually do my grocery shopping after visiting her. Anyways tonight I came in around 8:30pm, I decided to do my grocery shopping since I was feeling restless with my husband coming in late from standing duty. I always look like I am lost because I have a grocery list and I add up prices. But the stock ladies and gentlemen were very polite and helpful even though I didn't need any help it was still nice that they offered. Now the thing that really made me decided to write the company was the way an issue was addressed.

I could tell that some of the cashiers were about to leave for the night and I had a lot of items. At first I only seen the light for the 12 items or less lane, so I asked if there was any other lanes open one of the cashiers said that she was moving to another lane, she pointed left so i walked left and I saw a empty lane with the light on. I started lining up my items to be scanned and waited for her to come over. Then I saw her preparing to swap with another girl so I asked them who was coming to my lane because the light is on. She stated she didn't know why that light is on but she stopped what she was doing and came to my lane to check me out. I guess it was just a misunderstanding and someone never switched the light off. The manager came to her and took over so that she could finish relieving the other cashier so she could go home. She never gave me attitude and worked fast so that I didn't have to wait longer and the manager was polite and nice to me also. I didn't catch his name but he was a white older guy with gray hair. And the girl's name was Patrice and she was a young black female. If I could give 10...

I go to this store on the regular because they are open early and right by the house and my kids school and it has always been a pleasant experience until today. I was accused of doing something illegal by an old lady whose been there for 12years and can't believe there might be something she doesn't know. I get digital coupons from Similac and it has a list of stores you can use them at and food Lion is one of them. I went in this morning as I usually do after I drop my other 3 kids off to school and the lady that stops me every time I come in to see my baby wasn't there and apparently she is the only one that knows how to do because the other 4 people there today told me they haven't seen it before or don't know how to do it and the last lady said that something isn't right since only one person knows how to do it that means something is going on that shouldn't be. Did it ever occur to you that you are not the owner of the company there will be stuff you don't know including the list of all the partners the company has. Thank you for having me to take an extra trip out in the cold...

My experience with customer service at this store has been great until today. I hate to post a poor review because of this one experience, but other people need to know. When I went to pick up an order from the bakery, the employees behind the counter didn't pay any attention to me for at least a minute. No big deal because one of the employees was sweeping. HOWEVER when I did get her attention and asked for my order, she DID NOT stop to wash her hands. I had to ask her to wash her hands and she gave me the craziest look. I have to say I am NOT the crazy one for asking someone to wash their hands after they've been sweeping with a very unsanitary broom and dustpan. When I called to speak with the manager, I was put on hold and no one ever picked up. I definitely won't be ordering anything from their deli or bakery again. How are you gonna just not wash your hands and you work with unpackaged...
