On my first long overdue trip to Hanksville, my first stop was Rockin Riddle Rock Shop. The owner, Cathy, was very helpful with advice about where to go rockhounding, hiking, and exploring in the area. Her shop has thousands and thousands of rock and fossil specimens, both large and small, and a variety of gift and souvenir options if you're looking to bring home something unique for your loved ones. I can't imagine that my trip would have been near as enjoyable or successful without Cathy's help. I must have chatted with her for the better part of an hour, and I was richer for the experience. I seldom have met a more genuinely kind and thoughtful person. Do yourself a favor - next time you're visiting Hanksville or are on your way through, stop by the Rockin Riddle Rock Shop, you won't be...

Shiny and sparkly, striped and speckled, rough and smooth, bone-in stony and shellfish macaroni, spewed by volcanoes or exposed from ancient seashores...every imaginable color...on and on. The Rockin Riddle Rock Shop is owned by Lillian, somebody who considers it a gift to make a living sharing these marvels. It's an unassuming exterior, just like the raggedy surface of a geode. The crystals appear when you open it up. Prices are fair, and of course, Hanksville sits at the crossroads of Highways 24 and 95...the intersection of Beauty and Spectacle in Utah. Add the rocks to the hundreds of reasons to drive...
