On the grounds of the now scraped Oki Motel are the cabins at the Muddy Creek Mining Company. New owners/management team have put together a fantastic retreat. What an upgrade from my last time here at the Oki. ||The cabin is very clean and comfortable with a covered porch too. Inside is spacious and well equipped. The bed was super comfortable and the climate control was intuitive and kept the cabin at the perfect temperature. The kitchenette was well equipped. The refrigerator worked very well and ample ice is provided free. Also free is a laundry facility in a clean room with new, modern equipment. There is a large-screen smart TV if the weather turns on you. ||The room is very well noise insulated and your car is parked right at the cabin. ||There is ample seating and picnic tables around the property. There are even EV charging ports (free as well). ||The staff is super friendly, and helpful. ||Across the street is the Slickrock Grill with excellent BBQ, simple fare and often live music. ||Gas and grocery stores are a stone's throw away.||The room and grounds seem very secure which is important to me with my mountain bike and photo gear I travel with. ||The photo opportunities in this area are nothing short of spectacular. Sure, Zion and the like are wonderful but the nearby Factory Butte, Spire, and Moonscape Overlook are so otherworldly.||I spent three nights here and will definitely be back, perhaps when there is snow...
Read moreNew cabins, super clean, and the perfect place to stay when visiting Hanksville and surrounding areas. We loved walking in to the tv turned on to a crackling fireplace and such an adorable and clean cabin. The self check-in/out was super easy and you can even unlock/lock your door from the app! That was super helpful when I thought I forgot to lock the door after we left super early one morning. The kitchen was perfecttly stocked and the snack fridge was a great size for all our food. There is no freezer so we used ziplock bags and their ice machine to keep our frozen stuff in our cooler. The picnic tables and grills are going to come in handy this summer for grilling and hanging out. They had 2 fire pits, that I noticed, and I was sad I didn’t have marshmallows! We didn’t stay long enough to use their free washers/dryers but when we bring our kids down, those will be so amazing to have after a long day hiking and playing outside. The paperwork explained that all of Hanksville is on a well so don’t expect to be taking 20-30min hot showers. Get in and get out so everyone has hot water to share. You can tell they’ve put a ton of work into making this place amazing. We found a discount coupon on their Facebook page so check that out to see if they are offering any deals. Thanks again! ((This review was not paid or pressured or even asked to leave. We also own a business so I know how much these mean to other...
Read moreThis was my second trip to Hanksville in 3 years. What an upgrade from my first stay! My cabin (#14) had everything I needed and nothing I didn't. My car was parked just outside. Nice porch where I locked up my mountain bike (safe town, I've been told). The bed was huge and comfortable. Kitchenette was attractive and worked great. Nice coffee machine (pods) and free ice next to the free laundry facility which was a 30 second walk. Laundry room and my cabin were very clean. Washer and dryer high quality and pods included. My bathroom was huge (ADA cabin). Nice hot water in the walk in shower. Main room had a large smart TV. Bring your log in info for watching Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. I didn't use it but it would turn on and the internet was strong. Climate control was also excellent with a quiet mini split and a ceiling fan. The room was very quiet (I was second row of cabins in).
Porch was very nice and shaded. Picnic tables and other outdoor chair were clean and available.
The staff was friendly and very helpful.
Across the street is a very good BBQ/hamburger, etc restaurant. They were fast and friendly with good prices. Live music some days.
For hiking and photography, it doesn't get much better and MCMC is in the center of it! Great morning and evening skies and the rock formations! So many places...
