SO GLAD we stopped here!! The art and sculptures are so creative, not in a ‘yard art’ traditional sense, but in a deeper connection to all things - because of the levity and thought put into each creative arrangement and all the tiny details and points of interest (it gets you to slow down and look/see/discover). And while this makes it really interesting to experience (we came twice in a week for a half hour each time) the best parts are the messages of inner wisdom, kindness and deeper love that are hidden throughout the sculptures and garden. It’s like a treasure hunt for inspired ideas - and we LOVED this process of self discovery. Can’t wait to bring the kids here on our next trip through!

A must-see outdoor art gallery in Hanksville UT. This unique gallery of yard art is simply amazing and well worth a visit … or two! Carl’s art is assembled from discarded mining, farming and other common “junk” that he has transformed into dinosaurs and other eclectic pieces of true art, many conveying messages of peace, love and happiness. While it is free and open-access, donation boxes are available so please contribute to this lifetime work of passion for public art. The more you look, the more you will find in Carl’s Critter Garden … and hopefully your own heart, too.

If you love amateur art installations, you'll love Carl's Critter Garden. Easily accessible passing through Hanksville, you can park near the sculptures and wander at your leisure. There is no fee though donations are solicited. The grounds are filled with interesting creatures and art pieces made from repurposed materials. You need to stop by if you are passing through Hanksville.
