IGA — Local services in Hardinsburg

I called there in a panic one morning. I had done been to Wal-Mart and the dollar store bc I needed glycerin suppositories for my 7 month old baby. He had been screaming all night bc he was so constipated . When the Man at IGA answered I was in a panic bc I knew it was my last hope. I was crying and barely had any sleep the night before bc my little guy was in such bad shape. He was very kind, I rambled of what I was needing and praying they had them. He said to me, stay on the phone and I will go check and I was like ok. He came back a couple mins later and told me that they did carry them for babies and adults. He told me the price of them also, which I was grateful for. I thanked him and was headed there. I got in the isle they would be in but I was in such a hurry I couldn't find them. He walked up to me and said, are u the lady with the upset baby. I said yes. He said let me help you find what your looking for. He reached and got them. I was in such a hurry I couldn't find them. He than explained the difference between them both , and also went on to share him and his wife's experience using then for their child, how I should use them and was just a pretty awesome guy. This happened a few weeks ago. But I thought I should put my experience on here. The man was stocking that morning in the medicine isle. I was very grateful to that Man and IGA. I was on vacation with my father and baby brother and we decided to stop in and get a few things. Everything seemed fine, basic grocery selection and decent prices. My issue occurred when I was checking out and the cashier asked me how much something I was purchasing was. I told him and he called over a manager to fix the price in his register (he explained he had dealt with this before, earlier in the day, which is why he asked me). The manager was instantly rude and basically started treating me like a liar who was trying to take advantage of IGA. After spending 5+ minutes in line waiting for her to go check if I was telling the truth. She came back ranting about how the sign was incorrect and wasn't even supposed to be there etc. The price difference was only slightly more than a dollar and even tho this woman was being insanely disrespectful, I simply chose to remain quiet and left after finally completing my order. Keep in mind I never even brought the price up and wouldn't have even noticed if the cashier hadn't asked me. Im a 47 yr old widower and grandfather of two, I deserved absolutely none of that woman's disrespect and will never return to that...

While visiting family recently, I wanted to take the opportunity to buy some SKI soft drink cans since it is not available down here in Florida. The drink website said Houchens carried it. This was my first experience with this store and chain. I know Hardinsburg is a small town so I was prepared if soft drink prices were higher than I generally see. I thought the store exterior and parking lot were a little rundown, but you work with what you have. What I found inside was dark with poor lighting, in need of a good cleaning, and uncaring product organization. There is no excuse for haphazard merchandise display or dim lighting or general uncleanliness. These are little to no cost improvements. The staff I interacted with were pleasant but seemed downtrodden and just going through the motions. I have a long family history in Breckenridge Co. and always wish for the best there. Please spruce up the atmosphere and guide the employees with their customer service presence. I wish for this location to be a bright and cheery place to shop rather than the dismal and forsaken place I...
