Long review. Detailed.
Sayeedah (I apologize if I spelled your name wrong love) is my saving grace. I've never felt such loyalty to a nail salon and she is the main reason why.
Long story short without disparaging another nail salon; an "un-named local place" messed up my otherwise fine toenails. I'm talking ingrown big toe nails cut on weird 45° angles that were opposite of the natural curve of my toes and pain for 2 months. I let them grow out for those 2 months and did my research for a better place with a better tech. That's how I found Nail Designs and my darling Sayeedah. This was about 2ish years ago now. The positive reviews are accurate and deserved. I was a sporadic customer for the 1st year and now I go every 4 weeks religiously.
I made my appointment and when I got there I showed and explained everything to Sayeedah. She not only understood the issue but knew exactly what she had to do to fix it. The pain was immediately gone from the ingrown nails and my toes looked amazing. She spent a solid 90+ minutes working with me. Asking questions as we went along to make sure she understood every detail. My toenails have been perfect ever since.
I'm bragging about Sayeedah because she is the most amazing nail tech I've ever had and I adore her but it's the owner, other techs and customers that make the ENTIRE experience. I'm from Queens, NY where it doesn't matter how many times you've gone. They don't know you and always scream "PICK A COLOR!!" as you enter, nothing personal about it. Suba (the owner) knows me when I call to make my appt. We all talk and BS like we've known each other for years. Cross conversation between everyone, including other customers. The energy is happy and comforting.
I always try to make my appts a few days in advance because I know Sayeedah wears so many hats in her careers but was able to score a 9am appt for myself a week ago and then a super last minute appt for my visiting cousin that I wanted to spoil with a spa pedicure. Suba asked Kelly if she could come in at 9am the next day for her and she said yes without hesitation. Much appreciated. Donna loves her toenails Kelly and has been showing them off to everyone.
They do everything at this salon. Every person's nails that I've seen are gorgeous. The options for pedicures and spa pedicures smell amazing (pina colada and guava are the best smells in my opinion). Up to date salon. Comfy working massage chairs. Clean. Smells great (Suba burns incense, not too strong).
I hope you never change locations because you're so close to my house but if you ever did move; I would follow. Thank you for an amazing experience and beautiful toenails.
Thank you ladies. See you in about 2-3...
Read moreAfter reading the great reviews I decided to try this place out. I realize now that you have to have a particular person do your nails in order to have that great experience. I did not get that person. I had a feeling during the application process that the woman wasn't paying close attention to detail, not fully removing my previous gel color, cuticles uneven, not covering all areas of my nail with polish, polish being uneven, barely filing my nails, not scraping underneath my nails, etc.. but thought I was over-thinking it. I asked for a design on top, which actually came out lovely! So I left there thinking I had gotten a decent service. Upon leaving and really taking a close look at them, and reflecting on the process, I will never return here. Polish is extremely blotchy/uneven, which as I said, I did notice during the application but wanted to see how they looked when finished. No attention to the edges of my nails, and polish all over my skin. I've been filing the edges and ends of my nails all night and morning in order to fix them, trying to get my nail and my skin unattached in many places. The major piece that also frustrates me is that the woman knew the entire time that this was my WEDDING nail trial.... I told her that I've been trying to find a great nail salon that can do my nails for my wedding, and still they came...
Read moreI hate to write this review but I have no other option based on the total lack of cleanliness and safety violations I witnessed. First, I want to start by saying they are very nice people. But with that being said, nice isn’t enough when you jeopardize the health of every single customer who patrons your salon. During my visit, I encountered a total disregard for sterilization, cleanliness, and sanitizing of tools. It was BLATANT and negligent. Tools were pulled from a drawer and used on multiple people consecutively without any UV light sterilization or even a simple dip into a disinfectant solution. It frightened me and I feared days afterward of catching an infection or worse.
How could a business care so little about something that is so heavily regulated by the health department and licensing office? There was truly zero effort for safety and I couldn’t not write this review to warn others. Please go elsewhere if you even care a little about...
