At a county fair water is usually cheaper than soda. Soda was $3 and only 1 brand allowed. Water was $4! My friend ordered a cheeseburger for her mother and the photograph showed lots of lettuce and tomato. They said it didn't come with lettuce and tomato, didn't have any. I ordered a smoked roast beef sandwich and the meat was totally dried out and they were out of mayonnaise so I paid $10 for dried meat on a dry bun. Milk was $4. This is a farm show but they don't have lettuce, tomato, juicy meat, enough condiments- and this was the 1st day, and the natural drinks are more expensive than soda?! Apparently it's all catered instead of having local farmers or restaurants/vendors have food and drink booths? They did allow one apple vendor but they weren't in the food court, rather on the opposite side by the animals. They had good apple cider donuts for only $1.50 whereas everything else there was sky high priced. I wish I had known about them earlier because they also had hot or cold apple cider for $2 a cup, or you could buy I think like pint and quart sizes at a much better deal than the caterer's drinks. They also had all kinds of apples for sale. Honestly I think your local county fair is much more exciting. If you dropped somebody off you couldn't turn around and go back to parking -which was $15, although admission is free- so our friend ended up having to find some other place to park. The buildings are stretched out in a line so there is a lot of walking! The rodeo with junior high and high school contestants was interesting, but hard to find seats especially for a group. The tandem horse carriages, and the sheep dog competition were interesting. Overall, the local county fairs are much more interesting and have better food prices and...
Read moreYou can get a shuttle (free) to take you to the door free. I recommend with the extent of walking; it was like having walked 5-miles when I was done, and be another 5-miles to get back to entrance where shuttle dropped off. Don't get food on the lower level. It's on average about 40 people in every line. You cannot order one entire meal with beverage. One line for sandwich, another line for drinks, another line for French fries, another line for shakes. While you stand, say one hour waiting to order, there are people walking through the lines in both directions. You get to know how livestock feel at this time. If you are a family, and order a few beverages in that line, pray your two hands can carry several beverages without dropping them; no carry trays or bags offered. Once you get your food, it's tables to stand and eat, no dining chairs, and tables are usually taken. Benches in hallway (taken), and filthy floor is usually available to eat your meal near the taken benches in hallway. Eat upstairs. You can go out into the stadium, sit on a bench and eat. One star due to my unpleasant experience at the Farm show caused by the disorganized meal arrangements downstairs, mass crowds ramming through the lines, no place to sit and eat. Bring a bag or a wagon. A walking cane with a chair to sit, a wheel chair for your chair to sit, or...
Read moreWe go every year, parking at the elmerton lot for 15$ and shuttled to the complex. Never a problem with parking, sometimes there’s a 10min wait for the shuttle. We got there at 9am and the food court wasn’t busy at all, Some foods weren’t even ready to be served. The food we ate was decent(milkshakes $6 and cheese cubes$6) except the prices at some vendors are high. 10$ the cheesesteak on a dollar store bun and the 10$ rib meat sandwich was some processed McDonald’s like meat strips. I was expecting shredded rib meat not a machine formed patty. The grilled cheese sandwich’s were good in past years but there was about 5 long strands of blonde hair in the middle of my sandwich so they are a no for me indefinitely. By noon the food court was over capacity, no room to walk or even breathe, lines ridiculously long for everything they were selling. Yet people kept packing in, I don’t know how there’s not a limit on how many people are allowed in the building. It could possibly lead to a disaster if a fire happened. It became extremely warm and stressful inside the food court and we had to get out of there. Also the air in the building is very dusty, but not immediately noticeable, you will be blowing brown out of your nose once you get home and the smell of the animals will be on your clothes like smoke...
