I've been going to this location since opening day. Offhand, watching 'The Revenant' in what used to be Mad Pricer's cold food area in Screen #7, if I remember correctly, felt surreal since I'm a local to the area. The location has some history in other words. And while it did get off to a rocky start, we got free tickets for another showing that very first showing, I've noticed nothing but improvement since my first day experience.
I do like going to the Royal Suite too! If have one criticism here though it would be that I believe the theater would've went over even more had whatever needed done to put in an IMAX 3D screen over the Royal Suite as I simply believe it'd been a bigger draw for the entire Southern Illinois area as opposed to still having to go Evansville, IN. or over to St. Louis, MO. Having said that, it is a very nice luxury experience and Harrisburg is lucky to have it.
The Staff has always been nice. Even when experiencing problems using the printed out Movie Magic promotions we get off DvDs at Wal-Mart. As I've noticed another reviewer commenting, the only improvement I can think of would again involve The Royal Suite. It would be nice to figure out a better way to do paying for the food service as it can be disruptive to pay during the climax of the movie. Best Option I can provide would be to adopt a pay at credits implementation or post a menu at the ticketing booth to allow entire package billing before entering the theater. Possibly a secondary register for ordering the food so it doesn't get too bogged down?
The location is nice though it does have some problems. Given the choice, I'd have located it nearer to the busier side of town where the new Wal-Mart is. Arrowhead point still suffers from a depreciated parking lot since it's inception in the 90's and many of the businesses moving out. The smell from the sewage plant tends to blow toward the theater as well sometimes making the experience seem a little undesirable. A revamping of the Wildlife preserve area would do wonders too. But this has more to do with City and not the theater directly.
The number of screens and showtimes have been very nice given my memory of the old four screen, now shooting range, theater times and movie selections.
I'm sure my review sounds a little negative but I still give the place four out of five because it is an above average movie experience with competitive prices (when including their FREE movie rewards program), decent food, generally very nice staff, and a clean comfortable theater any town would be lucky to have.
As an avid movie lover, if I could, they'd see me there every day as a customer. Great for a family outing or...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love the Royal Suite picture and sound quality! HOWEVER, ONE THING TO IMPROVE - THE EXPERIENCE AT THE END OF THE FILM. They need to figure out a way to not check out every right at the climax or very close to the end of the film. I understand they do not want everyone to leave without paying but this is a bad practice and lessens the experience greatly (or at least by a star). I am not sure of the answer but maybe holding credit cards until the end of the movie may be a good idea. I know I wanted to go ahead and check out right after I ordered because I know we weren't going to be ordering anything else last time I was there and they were very hesitant but did. But there needs to be a solution for this. Also, the lights come on full brightness as soon as the credits role for this checkout time. Many movies have things during the credits so the bright light makes it hard to see or enjoy. I do think a dimmer light can be used an still allow a medium between continued enjoyment to the movie's bitter end and checking people out. I come to this Royal Suite for the fantastic sound and crisp projection. I do love the food as well, but this one issue needs to be addressed to make the theater the best experience that can be offered. Everything is excellent, so just please fix this so I can enjoy the end...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy daughter & I went for girls night and decided to go to Harrisburg Theatre to see Mean Girls 2. Unfortunately, the computer system went down, and we were unable to finish our movie. When we walked out, we noticed all the tvs that display movies were blue with codes on them. We waited at the front with other people from the movie for approximately 15 mins to speak with someone about being able to come back to finish the movie. Then we spoke with the cleaning crew that came inside, and were able to find Danny upstairs about 10 mins later. So this put us well after 9:30p, I asked if we could come back, stating I had a minor child with me that has school in the morning and myself that has to work at 6am. Danny said he was unable to give passes if he can get the movies up. He said once he gets it up, they can rewind it. I stated that it would have been nice to be able to finish our movie but after 3 hours of being there including the time we waited in the theatre for it to come back on, 15 mins at the counter with nobody to be found and another 10 mins it took the cleaners to find him. We didn't have time to wait for him to rewind the movie and finish it. š Never seen a theatre not offer a rewatch if their computers crash and don't come back on for...
