I can't stop thinking about how much money I spent on such a disappointing experience, so I have to leave this review, as I was expecting so much different for the price point. Don't book here with the expectations of a dream like spa experience. The office is located in a strip mall type suite tucked in the corner. You walk in and the 'spa room' is composed of large cubical walls they hung curtains on. You are given a form to fill out which includes a diagram of the human body for you to circle the areas you need focused on. Here is what's included in the Kona bliss package: Massage of Choice • Hot Stones • Hand & Foot Scrub • Coconut Oil Scalp Massage • Reflexology • Mini Facial I did not receive the coconut oil scalp massage, the therapist didn't even touch my head. The 'reflexology' was two very quick swipes of the bottom of each foot and that was it. The areas that I requested to be focused on got completely ignored, and replaced with aggressive arm massage for just about the entirety of the massage. I kept finding myself thinking "okay this is going to get better" and then it never actually did. The best way I can describe it is that feeling when you're about to sneeze and then it doesn't come out. That being said, the therapist would focus on one area for a very short time, stop abruptly, walk away from the table to their work station to clink around and get more lotion and then walk back and repeat the exact same process the whole massage, and before i knew it, it was over. The hot stones did get used and it was the most enjoyable part. It felt incredibly choreographed and I so much would have rather spent that money on a...
Read moreBest massage in the world! I’ve been getting regular massage for over a decade. In Hawaii, I always look for four hand, lomi lomi massage. Two people working on you at once confuses the body into relaxing far better than a massage twice as long, so it’s more relaxing and therapeutic. I’ve received a handful of tandem massage, but nothing came close to Teresa and Renni’s massages (oh yeah, I absolutely got more than one). What’s even better than a four-hand, 90 minute Hawaiian massage? At Ka Lima Hana Kukui, they also use hot stones and towels. I’ve never had a four handed, hot stone massage before. Heaven! Plus, they “karate chopped” my muscles (technically called tapotement), using special mallets called “bongers”. Whatever the terminology, my body loved it. In addition, they added a little Thai massage, which I’ve only had a sample of once. It was like massage Birthday presents! One delightful technique after another. So relaxing. I get some really tight, stubborn knots under my shoulder blades, and they literally spent hours working on them. Most of the time, Teresa and Renni used different techniques on different parts of my body, but at times, they both worked in sync, using the exact same strokes up and down my long limbs and torso. They also spent extensive time working on my feet – bliss! At the end of the session, they hand out a chocolate covered macadamia nut candy (best I’ve ever had). Visit Kona just to get a massage from Teresa and Renni. You...
Read moreAmanda Lee gives the best therapeutic massage, ever!!! A stiff neck and sore muscles from the miserable bed/ pillows at the VRBO, were putty in her firm hands as she manipulated them in to submission. Some of her massage techniques were familiar to me and some were delightfully new. Several hours later my pain is gone and I find myself wishing I’d given her more than a basic tip. Amazing! If you have...
